In a lever when the fulcrum is between load and effort, it is classified as a Type 1 Lever. Using a spoon to pry open a lid is one example of this. Observing the process, it is clear that only point that does not move, i.e. the fulcrum, is at the part of the spoon that rests on the edge of the tin. The load, in this case the lid of the tin, is located a short distance from the fulcrum at one end of the spoon, while the effort is applied at the other end of the spoon. This provides us with a mechanical advantage, making it possible to lift the lid by applying a small amount of force.
