Przewalski's horse (Equus przewalskii) is a species of wild horse that lives in Asia. It was last recorded in the Dzungarian Gobi in 1968, since that moment it is considered to have disappeared from the wild.
For the first time, Przewalski's horses appeared in Belarus in 2007. They came from the Ukrainian Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to the territory of the Polesie radiation-ecological reserve. Horses adhere to the former arable land in the area of evicted villages, as well as elevated areas in the floodplain of the Pripyat and its tributaries. For recreation, horses are settled in the empty stone buildings of the evicted villages - cowsheds, pig farms. Fire strips are intensively used by them both when walking around their area and for taking sand baths.
