Its also super good to hear he us working on a subwoofer and i hope its one that doesn't have filters to limit the lower rages at least going below 20hz but preferably below 17hz or lesser! Now we can dream in anticipation while you and Cris make the dream a reality !

Why not 16 Hz? Church organs often start at this frequency and why limit it to this frequency?
@FOH36632 күн бұрын
@@rudolfglaser9664 For that matter ... May as well pursue single digits! Seriously though, you really only design target a particular extension when a resonant platform is used, ie., vented, P.R., tapped horn, etc. Although Chris went with a P.R. alignment in their loudspeakers, I've no idea as to the platform he's designing around. For a sealed alignment, there's not really a designed-3dB point ... as it's realistically a sliding scale of variables, room's cubes, dBspl, amplification/box volume ... and driver characteristics. Everything can conspire against you, ... except the room's volume, ie., - Less box volume hurts the extension. - Less power hurts extension. - Lesser driver hurts extension. However; - Less room volume helps extension, via Pressure Vessel Gain Regardless which avenue Chris pursues, their customers are in good hands.

I think it would be easy for PS audio to do it. Not saying it would be pretty (boxes and such) but to prove the concept. Imho I bet Paul's attitude toward it would be, been there and done that. No reason to go back. Never hearing the V's I would put money on their biggest benefit is being they are floor to ceiling so no zoning. It seems like they can do the same today with a much smaller speaker package.

@FOH3663 currently have B&W 804 we with the HTM3 Center. The PS Audio speakers look nice, but should look to make a horizontal center speaker
@FOH36632 күн бұрын
@@fauguy23 Nice. I dig the B&Ws. It's challenging to design/build a high-performance, horizontally oriented center channel, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘴 of the L&Rs. In my HT system, I've got three active Catalyst 12c across the front. They're good oriented vertically, or horizontally (point source from 250hz on up). I suspect the Aspen's planar magnetic mid xover to the woofers at 400hz may be the challenge in a horizontal center channel ... as woofers spread laterally, reproducing 34" wavelengths of 400hz ... can certainly present challenges off axis. Off axis is one of the vital characteristics of a center channel, it's the whole point.
@fauguy232 күн бұрын
@FOH3663 the good thing about the B&W center is it has exactly the same tweeter, mid and bass drivers that are on the 804 floor standing models. I use the center mostly on movies. But have used it some on multi channel SACDs and Blu Ray audio discs.

@barrymiller33852 күн бұрын
I can't believe that PS Audio aren't already working on a fully active system. "Future fi" is popping up everywhere. Expect to see virtually all the big names with something along these lines by the end of 2025. The smaller "boutique" brands probably won't have the resources to do it. If high end audio is going to expand into the mainstream (lifestyle/aspirational) market rather than the audiophile/hobbyist market it is going to be with these active systems. Just two speakers, two cables, no boxes, no racks, no complicated setup. It may not be for us - but it's where all the big action is going to be.
@BruceCross2 күн бұрын
The concept is cool, but it would be insanely expensive and sell in very low numbers. Economically, it makes no sense for PS Audio. Of course, ultra high-end audio already makes no sense.

Many of the brands seem to "need" some silly priced speakers to be taken seriously. @@mitchtaylor6512 I'm sure you are aware that a few pico Farads of capacitive coupling to a low impedance speaker output is not going to impact anything. So what measurable difference are we talking about? It would be quite trivial to measure the delta with or without cable lifters on phase or frequency response. Also, a null test should be easy to do to see the signal differential. I've heard a lot of pseudo science snake oil talk about this topic, but, I'm all ears if you have something credible.

Do an Active Speaker !
@ThinkingBetter2 күн бұрын
PS Audio has the quality of being in-house competent to do both the electronics and speakers allowing for true synergy in highest of performance active speaker with discrete components like mono-blocks directly running each driver at near perfect impedance for maximum control and a super optimized best of audiophile active cross-over to deliver best system performance. It won't be cheap, but on this planet a lot of people have money to spend. Imagine an ultimate PS Audio system at US$500,000. Look at world's most expensive wrist watches selling for millions of dollars. Which has more value? For example, look at the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A-010 selling at US$ 31 million. I rather spend a tiny percentage on an audiophile system. It might make sense to partner with some high-end fashion brand to get it advertised to those buying private jets, large yachts and million Dollar wrist watches. A lot of brands are defined by their highest-end product pushing boundaries.
