I'm unable to exactly date when this patch was released, because it doesn't come with a .nfo file that would contain additional information, such as the release date. I did however find that the timestamp of the .ppf file dates back to 2000-11-22. The earliest web-release of this patch I was able to track down is 2000-11-23, so just one day later. I assume 2000-11-22 is when the crack was released in the "elite circles" and then leaked to "regular people" a day later.

This was a hell of a game to crack specially if you consider it was done in the very early 2000s

The team were pretty clever enough to add additional checksum checks and self-modifying code so that it was pretty difficult to tamper with.

I remember this being faster. Fiddled with the playback speed and 1.1x sounded correct to me. I'm Australian, so maybe the version we had was faster or something?

To my knowledge, the issue with music playback speed is linked to a bug in a music player called Hitmod. In version 1.4, Hitmod played music too fast when running in NTSC mode. This problem was fixed in version 1.5, which ensured music plays at the correct tempo no matter the video mode. Most, if not all, of the cracktros created by Mr. Bengali and Chocobo, both members of Paradox, use Hitmod 1.4 and have music playback issues in NTSC mode.

I thought this was actually the theme song of the game and was surprised that it was missing when I purchased a legitimate copy. It's super nostalgic and brings back memories.

I remember having this version as a kid but the music went a bit faster, as in the Duke Nukem cracktro they released. What could be the cause for the bpm differences?

What I noticed is that several Paradox cracktros that were created by Chocobo and Mr. Bengali seem to play back music faster on an NTSC 60hz setup.
