PS2 Longplay Re-do: Monsters Inc. Scare Island

I have been meaning to do a rerun of this game for ages and I finally did. You will notice in the description of my Rugrats longplay, the hassle I had getting the HDMI 1080p upscaler. Anyway it finally arrived so I managed to do get my Rugrats one done too and this.
Unlike last time the picture is in 50fps and in Widescreen. and no longer has the interlacing problems I had back when I used the easyCAP to record it. Since I got my AV2HDMI device I've been able to record PS2 and PS1 games in higher definition using my elgato. Anyway it does not feel like a year since I last played this. Boy times flies. It was in every way as fun to play though. I love it but the controls can be a bit off at times when trying to jump on smaller platforms such as those coloured lily pads in The Oasis and the camera angle is mostly fine. It can play up now and then. I think I completed it slightly faster this time too. I love the levels in the arctic training field, and I like The Oasis level in the desert training grounds. I love the music to the Orientation level though. Actually to be honest I rather like the whole game. I know some people say this wasn't the best Monsters inc game but I loved it. Anyway I hope you enjoy my rerun of Monsters inc. Scare Island. Or as it's known in the US, Monsters inc. Scream team. Oh Also I'm hoping to play the PS1 version too. :)
So Generally this game is a prequel to Monsters inc in which Sully and Mike go on a course of training through various styles of levels and earning medals to become top scarers. This story doesn't quite add up with Monsters University though. Haha.

Yeah I love ASMR too, and wierd enough I used to do the same. So relaxing. Which version did you have? I had it on PS1 until it became too scratched to be playable, lol, then I got the PS2 version one of my birthdays. Can't remember how old I was though.

Aaah, so glad to still meet a lot of 90's gamers. Gaming's one of the only things that make my want my childhood back. lol, I used to play it obssessively. Played as whoever was in the level's logo. Haha.

I was actually born in 2003 but still, this game is a gem! The soundtrack especially. So jazzy and one of the best soundtracks ever in my opinion! The soundtrack coupled up with the level design and all the classic gimmicks like potato chip packets to heal you and the Scare-O-Meter that made you scare kids depending on the shirt colour, t really makes this game one of the best!

I did he's just better to use. His rolling attack is more easier to kill enemies with then Sulley's tail spin, he can bounce around with the body slam attack unlike Sulley and he has the hover in mid air while jumping ability.

I don't buy that crap in Monsters university about how Mike "isn't scary" because he clearly scared the training dummies here and he put more effort in than Sully, who kind of just made alcoholic noises.

From what I can tell, the PS2 version has higher quality textures and character models, but the environments seem to have the same polygonal count as they did in the PS1/PC version. The lighting seems to be a bit duller as well, and the game runs at 60fps.

Yeah I had the PS1 version first, but the game sorta stopped working after a while. I was quite careless with my games as a kid. Haha. Then I got the PS2 version for one of my birthdays. :)

Good question. I think all they did was enhance graphics and re-arrange things here and there. Differences I've noticed is some of the Nerves colours are switched in the PS2 version, like the one in the Well in the City Center level is Blue in the PS2 but I believe it was Green in the PS1. Also All the Nerves are Brunette in the PS2 version when the long haired ones are blonde on the PS1. 1 more thing I've noticed is there's a glitch I used to do in The Marketplace on the PS1 that meant I could 100% the level without unlocking the trampolines but they fixed that in the PS2 version which was a shame. Haha.

OMG what did they do to the colors & brightness on the PS2 version? 😭 The original pc/ps1 had perfect bright colors with just the right amount of brightness! This version sucked out all the colors & went overbored with the darkness, every stage is way too dark lookin now i can barely see the stages lol.. shame though! 😞 Glad i only found the ps1 version & picked it up at a second hand 2 days ago! 😌

All ps1 games looks as good as they possibly can while when they remade this game for the ps2 they messed up colors & brightness on it! Sure it has more advanced graphics but does that even matter when it looks as bad as this? Nope. Ps1 LOOKS & FEELS better and that matters more than the overall graphic capability! 🤷‍♀️
