PS3 gets a Redneck Cooling System

...by using the simple logic approach, any time that one exposes a hot surface to ambient air that is cooler then the hot surface in question, the ambient air will absorb the heat that is in excess of the ambient airs temperature, will it not?....If you have the same model of PS3 that is shown in my video, then you can see that the 4 tiny feet that the PS3 sits on, are not even 1/16" (1-sixteenth of an inch) high, leaving next to No-Air-Flow underneath the PS3!....(con't)

Jorge Altamirano Greetings Jorge Altamirano....Thanks for watching, and for, Your, very" Simple Solution", to, shall we say..."Reduce/Lessen"...that, good ole, "PS-3's", quite Hot Operating Temperature, while doing some, shall we say, rather "Intensive...Highly Stressful...Controller Manipulation", on the Type of Video Game, that makes Us, all do, what it is, that we do do (nope, not that nasty Dog Stuff)...!!!...lol..............Hmmmmm (that be...me...Thinkin'...at the moment).................Ah yes, "Standing", the PS-3, on its "Side", as You were sayin'.....................While, not much doubt at all, about "Improving" that, much needed, "Cooler Air Flow", to help..."Cool Down"...some-what, that..."Too Hot of the PS-3's Operating Temperature"...while it, as I was just sayin', will probably help in, kinda, "Keeping the PS-3, a Bit Cooler", but, there are, as I see it, some rather..."Not So Good Consequences"...that could possibly..."Take Place"..by..."Standing-Up, the PS-3 on its Side"...................................The Number...One "Thing"...that concerns me, is, lettuce say, that there happens to be, some, High Energy Children..."Running Through the House"...or, the "Family Pet", is tryin' to set, a..."Speed Record"...while..."Runnin'...Through, that very same House"...then, all of a sudden..."BAM"...!!!...then, we all hear, someone cry out..."What the Heck was that Loud Noise"...???..................................So, now, we go Lookin' for the "Point of Origin", as to what the Heck, caused that Loud Noise...??? (that be, where that...Loud..."BAM"...!!!...Noise, came from...Originally...lol)..................................Hey Jorge..."Guess What that Loud..."BAM"..!!!...Noise was...???...(so Jorge, looks around the House, for, what-ever, "It Was"...???...that caused that Loud..."BAM"...!!!...Noise)..................Then...Jorge "Yells out"..."The PS-3 got..."Knocked Over" (probably by, One of those Hyper Kids, or that Very Fast Pet...and also, with the Bottom of the PS-3..."Pointing Skyward"...no less...!!!)............................So...Jorge...Places that..."Flipped-Up-Side-Down-PS-3"...on its...."Tiny-Little-4-Feet"...and..."Turns On the PS-3"...and waits for the TV-Screen..."To Light Up, and Show, that Flowing, oh, Screen Saver Display"...that..."Is Usually Seen, when, at first, Starting up, that good ole PS-3".........."OH OH"..."No Picture"..."No Sound"..."NOTHING AT ALL"...!!!........................Turns out that, the..."PS-3-No-Work-ee-No-More"...cuz..."It Fell Over"...and, went..."BAM"...!!!...causing..."Damage, that was Too Expensive to Fix"...so, now, Jorge, has to, go to, the..."Electronics Store"...to..."Buy a New PS-3"...but, wait, just a minute now, cuz, Jorge, is now Thinkin' about, maybe "Not Buying another, New, PS-3"...cuz...just like a....."Kid in a Candy Store".....He has to Decide, wether to Buy, a...New..."PS-3"...a...New..."PS-4"...or, maybe, even, a...New..."X-Box-1"...???...!!!...???...so then Jorge..."Which One"...Will..."it"...be...???...lol...............................Then, I'm not such a Big Fan, of having to "Load a Game Disc/Disk"...having the PS-3's..."Loading Tray"...in the..."Vertical Position"...cuz...If-in I "Drop that Poor Game Disc/Disk"...knowing my Luck, that...Poor Game Disc/Disk...just got a "Big Scratch or Gouge", on the Side/Surface, that the PS-3, has to "Read", but, Now "Can't"..cuz, of that..."Big Scratch/Gouge", that..."Me"..."Fumble-Fingers"...was Responsible for, and, Now, I..."Can't"..."Play The Game"...or, was it, have the "Game Play Me"...???...lol......................So then...Jorge...I hope You had a "Good Laugh", while reading this...Call it what You will...just above........Thanks again Jorge...and............Till next time.............Be Safe, take care, and have a good one.

Dude sorry to say but this would make no difference to the chip/ board temp; ur best bet would be to get in there and fit bigger heat syncs (use good thermal paste) and an aftermarket fan and try not 2 use it for more than 5 hours at a time.

...If you have the same model of PS3, do some gaming for a few hours and get it good and hot, then shut-er doon (turn off PS3)....Then, pick up your PS3, and feel just how "HOT" the bottom of that PS3's bottom gets!....See what I mean....Those 4-very-short-feet prevent about 99% of any air getting under it, where-as, with my approx. 1-Inch "Tunnel" that I created allows plenty of air to aid in removing some of the heat that comes right through the bottom plastic of the PS3...Be cool & take care
