Adam, I think you're in top form here on Rev3. Internet video seems like a format that has you working the way I've always wanted to see you work, and I really couldn't be happier with the result. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels, and I hope one day you guys get to do a Rev3 national tour one day. Rock, rock on!

I'm glad to see you back in work Sessler. I was an avid G4 and before that TechTV watcher, and after watching several videos with you I remember why I loved Xplay so much, you are ridiculous and very intelligent. Now that the PS4 has been revealed I'd like to know what one of the seasoned veterans of reporting the gaming industry feels Microsoft may have coming down the pike? without speculating too much of course.

You collect resources in the game to purchase things at the store. You can also buy these resources with microtransactions. It's not a stretch to think that EA would limit how much of the resource you find in the game, as to encourage you to purchase more with real money.

One of the issues I have with the MTs in DS3 is that the design principles of the game may have been altered in favor of making people purchase resources; that items might require so much grinding that a user would be forced to buy resources to get the full experience the game has to offer. The game might be liberal with its resources, but with games like Battlefield Heroes in EAs history, they obviously don't have the best principles. They might have done it well, but we just don't know yet.

I agree with you. If it were some kind of free-to-play model for the game then microtransactions are fine, but putting them in a full 60$ game kinda makes you worry about the future.

I actually have to say that your point about people waiting and not buying the wii u to see what the ps4 and 720 will offer was an interesting point. Never really thought about that.

Cont. 1)In terms of raw performance the GPU's apparently got 90% the power of the 7970m, which makes it around 9X the PS3 in raw flops, though there are efficiencies that are also gained with modern tech & a better feature set on effects the GPU can do. The RAM shifts about 8X the data around that PS3's ram did. The specs listed here are a very decent jump above PS3, probably quite reasonable for Sony to produce price wise too, along with Bluray, HDD & the other usual parts.

I don't have any spec inputs, but i think they need to make improvements on the game case. especially the center piece they could make it softer, easier to take out to reduce wear also (just got a pre-owned game and the center had a crack near the small hole) keeping the disc safe and secure. what do you guys think?

Better graphics are one of the first things people think of when comparing the two, of course, mods are as well but there is also digital distribution, mainly Steam but any service is what I mean. It makes it easier for a company to get their game out at a smaller cost, there is still server costs and whatnot but nothing compared to the cost of shipping out all the game units, this also benefits the indie devs who can't afford to print their product, let alone ship it and have stores stock it.
@akodo7711 жыл бұрын
We kinda do AFAIK - I'm quite sure multiple podcasts from last week mentioned that crafting system do not break pacing and you can get everything you need, at the same time having to choose between stuff from time to time - which IMO is beneficial to experience as seen from core gamer's perspective. More casual players can maybe pay and get both ends of the bargain, but why would you want to remove the important part of choice from your experience is beyond me.

i like the idea of two versions of the ps4 and 720. Only problem I see is in the higher end, as strong as PC, versions' abilities to compete with high end PC's because at that point, it would actually end up costing more for matched performance. Reason why is because putting strong parts in a small form factor cost more than having the same strong parts in a bigger form factor. In that case, logically, it would be better to get a PC.
@Sentay011 жыл бұрын
The difference is that Steam are the only people providing the exact version of the digital product they're selling thus they can control the sale (ie they can have awesome sales whenever) most consoles however are primarily reliant on physical games which are sold by retailers, thus they cant control the price as well, as they have to pay for materials, retailers, workers, shippers, and managers.

I just remember that I switched to PC a few years ago, and I went and played games that I played on 360 for PC. I was blown away by how good the games played and ran compared to their console counterpart. The only games I play on console anymore is MLB The Show (since I am an avid baseball fan) and whatever else I get due to friends buying games on consoles like Call of Duty (though MW3 was the only game I hated completely, all the others from CoD4 and up are good.) I can't wait for next gen :)

I'm no fan of EA, but being in my mid 20s now having finished school and working full time, I totally agree with Adam. I don't have time to play games like I used to, so if I can spend a few dollars to buy better weapons in a single player to speed it along, I am all for it. Gamers are a changing demographic people, we don't all have time to play like we did when we were younger.

From a business standpoint, microtransactions, as well as DLC are a great way to continue to provide a profit base, and not worry and fret and bemoan the used games market. Let Gamestop continue to sell your game, and continue to expose more consumers to what is probably more pure profit than what new game sales are.

@MrSec8411 жыл бұрын
Beyond3D has a list of the native resolutions, a number of titles on Xbox & PS3 have been rendered at 1280x720 & some less demanding graphical titles were in 1920x1080, check the list for yourself, 480p was passed at launch of 7th gen PS360. I get what you're saying about specs, but those aren't exactly expensive parts for a console maker, will reduce in price over the coming years & they would fit a pretty low TDP, all things any modern console manufacturer would want out of their next machine.

Sorry, but no it didn't. The DLC consisted of costumes, a battle arena to fight some new bosses, a side-story with Sahz and Lightnings fight with Caius - I do think this one should definitely have been on the disc, but it didn't take place after the game or anything. It did have ''To Be Continued....'' at the end but they are doing so with XIII-3/Lightning Returns, it wasn't a reference to future DLC.

I think (and have read) that these free to play game will be more prevalent. Dust 514 is what is really convincing me. It's still only in beta and needs a lot of work, but for being a beta it's fun as hell and the concept of being apart of a larger world is pretty cool. Micro transactions are annoying but with the expansion model they use as an alternative is smart and something that fits me as a consumer much better.

I think the real problem was how a lot of hardcore gamers who got a Wii ended up not playing it as much or not at all after a while, and the WiiU is doing the same things that the Wii did, using the computing power of the previous gen's hi-end consoles and sticking with the motion control stuff which we all tried out and don't give a shit about anymore.
