This video has been a life saver. I’m having trouble with my ps4 pro’s bluray drive. The issue it won’t accept any media after I opened it, my mistake was to open the drive with a disk inside. I'm going to watch this again to see if I get any ideas if where I messed up. Thank you for the video 💪🏻. Update, I just tested the drive and it cant receive disks it doesn't do anything but seeing the video fully it has brought some hope. I'll let you know if I got it working. Thank you. Final update, well it looks I damaged one of the small plastic pins that tells the ps4 when a disc is in or I think removed that's why I couldn't get a disc out. I'm sad and happy at the same time because finally I have an answer to my problem. I think I have to buy a new bluray drive

Actually i forgot about the Laser Rail, and the Gear Mechanism that over time gets dust and debris and needs cleaning and lubricant over it, good thing you managed to figure it out, a regular chap would declare the Drive dead and throwable.

if you haven't any thermal paste in a emergency just scrap together what you can off the chip etc and reuse, done it myself and its working better than beforealso if you putting grease on plastics use silicone /metal to plastic also. check it out

Não entendo infelizmente seu idioma, mas o KZbin gera uma legenda ruim, mas prestei bem atenção e compreendi muito sobre o mecanismo. Obrigado. Na minha opinião os desenvolvedores de jogos, os que criam a parte eletrônica como CPU, placa dos consoles são muito bons, porém, a parte mecânica dos componentes são péssimos. Já possuí todos os consoles da Microsoft e sem medo de errar, a qualidade está " anos luz", a frente da Sony. Adquiri um ps4 pro recentemente e , a mídia física só é reconhecida quando se põe o console de " ponta cabeça " ( cabeça para baixo) como falamos aqui no Brasil. Possível terei que trocar o leitor óptico. Não quis ps5 pois , além de custar média de 4 a 5 salários mínimos aqui no Brasil, acho um trambolho e está já na 3ª modificação. Muitos problemas! Então por querer jogar alguns exclusivos da Sony, peguei um ps4 pro. O arrependimento já "bateu a porta". Irei fazer o reparo e ficar quieto com meu xbox series S e X ... Sony é só aborrecimento. Um grande abraço.

I have a CUH 7216B PS4PRO, is it correct that this version is compatible only with blu ray drives from CUH 71xx and 72xx PS4pros (they have a silver / gray ribbon cable) or will the 70xx (with white ribbon cable) also work? Furthermore will an US drive (7215B) also work with an European PS4Pro? Many thanks for your answer, I've Googled and asked questions on Reddit but still haven't found an answer :(

Hehe you welcome. Normally it should work as long the cables fit in prefect. On the PS3 it was really hard but on the ps4 sound be no problem. Just try it ;)

My PS4 won't accept disks, I opened it to give it a clean and renew thermal paste, after putting it back together it would not eject or accept disks. I tried to reboot in safe mode and rebuild database but no luck. Any idea what the issue could be?

@Reiha Ali Did you ever come right / found out what the issue was? I just recently got a PS4 pro and did exactly the same thing (cleaned it out and applied new thermal paste). After putting it back together it runs well but the cd drive doesn’t accept or eject discs. I have been manually inserting and ejecting discs using small screw driver and the manual eject hole underneath the console 😂 Interestingly if I cold boot the console and put a disc into the drive it makes a sudden noise as if it wants to grab the disc but then it doesn’t, and it only does this sound once until the console is switched on again. I suspect it could possibly be the rollers too 🤔

@@shapsugh1864 It turned out i had to replace the part of the drive that have the lens and the mecanism to move the lens, I bought it for around 12$ on aliexpress. It works fine now.

By mistake i tried to swap the disc drive from 1st gen to 2nd gen ps4 pro with a disc inside with it but after putting back the same drive to the same ps4 pro the disc is unrecognizable! Also replaced the fuse 6202 which is mainly feed of disc drive but i can see the disc doesn’t spin at all before swap it was working :( any advise

I have same problem if I tap the top when inserted a disc it works only if I tap the top grease is the problem I think the runners go dry and wear making it out of line not shore think tapping it makes it more what do u think happened after I put a cleaning disc in it

Ola Nuno mais dois vídeos já sabia que as ps4 leitor tinham bastante defeitos tem umas parte brancas tipo rolo que faltam e gastam se, eu sigo também o rapaz tronifix que comprar no ebay umas quantas em pacotes e repara quase todas têm esses defeitos, mas referindo novamente qualidade da Sony caiu a pique esta a ficar uma empresa de com aparelho de linha branca, tenho um Sony vayo com problemas na gráfica AMD que é soldada de reballing e AMD aquece demasiado os componentes, bom vídeo.

Hi NSC, my ps4 pro accepts, reads and ejects discs fine. But it's really loud. I've checked the drive and couldn't see any reason for this. Any ideas? Given that the discs read fine I wouldn't have thought it could be the laser but I'm out of ideas.

Try to clean the lens first with an ear cleaner, if not changed much, than you need a new laser. Cost not much and it's not hard to install it.

Brother i have a ps4 pro. Used to place it vertically, yesterday i placed it horizontally and couldn't even read any cd. Then i placed it vertically and instantly started working normally reading every game. I managed to start some games on a horizontal placement by giving a few small hits in the left corner of the blueray whole inserting a disc. Do you know why is this happening? Is there a fix?

Thanks, i fixed my bluray, turned out that plate with two sticks was bend and 1st switch was always on, fixed it, but as I put my disc in it works but it doesn't read disc or something, ps4 says that I maybe have dirty disc, but it sounds like that lense barely moves like it's stuck or can't find disc, maybe you know what's the problem.

This Sounds just like a Laser issue. You may need to buy a new Laser

You said you were going to tell us a trick about not having to remove the motherboard and the heat sink and all the other crap to get to the disc drive, BUT YOU NEVER DID!!! I'm pretty sure the trick is to leave the two screws out of the bottom plate/heat sink that screws into the bottom plastic panel, without you having to say so. Is that right? Or not?

I have a question for you and I hope you answer it. I have two PS4, one is original and the the other one is Pro. They have a fucking loud fan. I replaced the thermal paste with MX-4 but that didn’t fix the loudness. Do you think there isn’t enough contact between the heatsink and the APU? If I put a penny or a dishwasher, will this fix the problem?

It could be the fan itself, or the heatsink is filled with dust, or maybe too little thermal paste? Anyhow do not put a penny or anything that could move in the future because it could make contact to the motherboard somehow and cause massive damage to the motherboard because of the new circuit it would make .

Dutch Van Der Linde btw I cleaned the whole console and I put a good amount of paste and I’m pretty sure the problem is there is a gap between the APU and the heatsink. Check one of his videos and you will know what I’m talking about. The penny trick works great on my PS3 but I haven’t tried it on PS4.

@@NSC-Modz oh man schade 😂 Meine PS4 Pro macht gerade voll die Probleme, die hat mit dem alten laser garkeine spiele mehr gelesen und mit dem neuen jetzt nur gaaanz schwer. Die spinnt die CD und hält sie wieder alle 3 sekunden an, sodass dss bild alle paar sekunden stehen bleibt und das laden somit endlos lange dauert 😂 So kann man doch nicht spielen mensch xD Denke aber es liegt an dem fetten laufwerk flachbandkabel, da dieser an den beiden Ecken sehr mitgenommen aussieht. Mal sehen was daraus wird! Neues flachbandkabel ist schon bestellt.
