This clash between two sons of Zeus is _especially_ fucked when you consider that the whole REASON for the Twelve Labors of Hercules was because it was his atonement after Hera sent him into a fit of madness that caused him to kill his whole family, just like what Ares did with Kratos. Kratos looks at Hercules and sees what he would have been if he'd _remained_ a servant of Ares after his families death. Is it any wonder he shows him no mercy?

Here Hercules is a dark reflection of Kratos both kill their own families because the deception of a God the difference is that Kratos chose to revel against Ares meanwhile Hercules chose to become Hera pet. In the end Kratos is seeing what would happen if he kept fallowing the gods orders of the gods blindly. Hercules become proud and corrupt, he’s doesn’t care anymore about his family, he forgot that the labors were made so he could redeem himself of the madness that made him killed his family. Kratos gave him many warnings but in the end the desire for glory end up being Hercules undoing.

Fun fact, Kratos' birth is just like Heracles'. A pair of twins from different fathers; one obviously is Zeus. Here Hercules complains Kratos was made a god, in mythology Heracles was also made a god and ironically replaced Cratus as the god of strength. Heracles' twelve labors weren't for glory, they Heracles' path of redeption for killing his family because of Hera.
