Hey Bob, if you looking for TVs right now. The LG c4 is a pretty decent deal, 55 in oled $1400. I will caution you though, depending on the OLED they're not great for brighter rooms. A lot of them can get brighter these days, but it's still not ideal. LG's nano IPS TVs are great pick for brighter rooms. Rtings has a great tool you could use to figure it out.

My favorite part was when Sony said that 3/4 of their users prefer to use the mode where they have a better framerate instead of marginally better graphics, then proceeded to ask for 700 dollars so they can keep playing at the same framerate, but now with the marginally better graphics. To hammer it home that this will still be a PS5, they also didn't show any new games so we don't get our hopes up and start thinking we'll get anything else.

Yes and Sony have normally sold their consoles at a loss. Meanwhile the console market is not growing. The PlayStation 2 outsold the PlayStation 4. Half of PS4 players have not upgraded to PS5. Selling the PS5 pro at a loss to existing PS5 owners would make no sense. Instead they want to test the market selling a console at an actual profit.

The PS5 Pro seems cool but I already have a PS5 that I don't even get to use very often because of power issues in my area. I'd rather save my money for the Switch 2 and a couple games since I could play it anytime and there's no way it'll be so expensive.

I think your guy’s point about this being Sonys way to charge more for PS5 without increasing the price is pretty spot on especially with the prices being all over the place depending on the country. Even the ye ole trade in and pay the difference through GameStop doesn’t look appealing now cause on top of just the new console you’ll need at minimum a disk drive too so you’re not getting out of that transition for less than 400.

I really like my PlayStation Portal! The first week of owning it sucked because it never connected but ever since then it connected fine. I personally use it for playing my PS5 in bed or for when I go over to friends houses and we play games like Fortnite or GTA online together. I also own a Backbone and have the PS Remote Play app on my phone, but I like keeping my phone free while I’m playing something so the Portal is great for me!

In regards to the comment about Playstation "not having original IPs" I feel like everyone is reading the comments incorrectly. He is saying they have a lack of original IPs that they have "fostered from the beginning." People think it's a crazy statement because they're like "But look at all these IPs you have access to that you haven't touched in years!" but that is exactly what he is saying in the comment. He is saying they haven't been keeping their IPs going and current.

One thing to consider on this whole thing. So you want a stand and a disc drive? That's another $140 tax included with your already $699 price tag. Let's say you're a new adopter to Sony and need their online, and you wanna go BARE BONES with that, so there's another $80. Also, let's say you might wanna get anothet controller? Welp another $75 and you just spent over $1000 to play games slightly higher fidelity. Meanwhile you could've spent even just $900 on a PC that would perform just the same and if not better than the Pro💀

The trade-in credit for an OG PS5 w/ Disc increased at GameStop sooner after the PS5 Pro reveal. This mid-cycled system is not for the "niche" PS players imo. Sony (and Gamestop) want day-one owners to upgrade.

Don’t have a PS5 but do want one (whatever the cheapest one is at the time I get one) for GTA VI since that’s where my friends will be playing. Will get a used/refurbished one since everything else I want/play is on PC or PS2. Struggling to find out who this PS5 Pro is for. A “casual” who just plays GTA, COD, 2K, Madden, etc. won’t want to pay that price just to play a handful of games. An “enthusiast” I don’t think will justify this price either because there’s no trade-in program to drive down the price and if we’re getting this close to PC prices I think they’ll just start looking at getting a PC instead.

The ONLY reason I have contemplated getting a PS5 of any kind is because FF7 Rebirth is likely gonna take longer than I care for to come out on PC. God Of War Ragnarok working optimally, being that I’m a SD user, is another less crucial reason. Beyond that? Couldn’t give less of a shit.

Ubisoft seems to be stuck in a similar rut to Bethesda but with more modern tech behind their engines. They both go too far in recycling mechanics from game to game and don’t do enough to customize the experience for each project.

All PlayStation games come to PC now so just use that money on a gaming PC and get better performance than the pro could offer anyways with the added bonus of being able to upgrade components as time goes on. Im probably getting flak for this, but im actually looking forward to the pro. It always was bummed out that the performance mode tanks the quality of the graphics, or quality tanks the framerate as hard as it does. I know in this bubble im absolutely in the minority, but yes, the bit with "when i play my ps5 game i wish....ect." rings true to me. Raytracing looks absolute ass on ps5, high fidelity graphics with 30 frames looks absolute ass, imput lag with low framerates on high fidelity sucks absolute ass, 120hz with muddy resolution looks absolute ass. Its constantly annoying to have to not "prioritise" performancemode over qualitymode (or the other way around, depending on the game) but to actually "sacrifice" one over the other. The entire generation i wanted there to be a feature which enables both modes and with the pro im getting exactly that. Im looking forward to all those features from the presentation because those are the only points i have as a critique regarding the ps5. With the pro, i hopefully dont have to "sacrifice" one mode to another, i hopefully can just be like: yeah right now i want more frames (while the quality still is superb) or right now i want more graphical fidelity (while the framerate doesnt tank as hard as it does right now). In the end, im still not blindly buying it, im also waiting for comparison videos to see if this will be worth it for me - but in any case, to say this is a "marginal" upgrade as i hear lots of people say.. thats just not true. It was the same back in the day when the ps4 or the ps5 launched, elitists or mindless haters always trying to stirr up some engagement or trying to downplay the leaps done from each generation to each generation. And yes, it has been leaps: i think especially this generation people tend to forget what loading screens used to be like, not even that far away, but trying to load into red dead 2 or god of war on LAST gen... you could whip up a whole family dinner by the time the games finished loading. fasttravel is now nothing you have to worry about anymore, since its actually fast now, menus open instantly and dont have you questioning your lifechoices while staring into a black mirror because of a miss-input. Also the haptics of the controller and the resolution of the audio output is truly something to behold this generation and was simply not possible last gen or before that.

Most normal people don't upgrade hardware every year? what does normal have to do with whether a person does or doesn't buy new hardware every year?. Ok, it's more expensive....so, don't buy it? is there any point to it? depends, some think there is are they wrong? well that's an opinion and it ultimately doesn't matter because it's coming out and it's done. How does it perform? too early to say given it's not out yet. Will it be worth it? depends and also ITS NOT OUT YET. The amount people shitting on something that hasn't come out yet is incredible. The whole way this discourse is being framed is just so silly and pointless given it comes down to choice and subjectivity; a person's choice is their business and in THIS instance it's neither wrong or right and has nothing to do with anyone else. The reality is things particularly tech does get more expensive and companies are going to release new hardware every few years that is just reality and fairness doesn't come to it. At the end of the day it comes down to profit and choice. As an example you've got people who willingly pay out their ass for the latest iPhone so they can go on tick-tock and play animal crossing which is about 500 dollars more than a ps5 pro and it's a fricken phone with a fancy screen. Arguably, its possible many of those same people are complaining about the price of the ps5 pro when they upgrade their apple phone every year or two as if that's somehow more normal or better than those who choose to upgrade their P.C or console every generation. The lack of self-awareness of people like this is insane. This is all kind a zero sum debate.
