I despise how effortlessly Alex can swiftly locate shorts. When I initially began following this channel, I had absolutely zero experience. However, through dedicated viewing, I can now label myself as a beginner. From my personal perspective, this KZbin channel is unquestionably one of the most exceptional platforms for learning. I wish to convey my heartfelt gratitude for all the videos, Alex. Your teaching is genuinely remarkable, and you've sparked inspiration within me in innumerable ways. With hope, I aspire to attain a similar level of efficiency as you one day. Furthermore, I've observed that Alex might have intentionally amplified the volume of the ending theme song, possibly as a response to those who expressed disapproval in the previous video. LOL.

I think the real thing people fail to realize is in terms of the repair Big Boss is doing like 85% of the work offscreen. Proper disassembly / reassembly and the initial troubleshooting of these devices before it hits Alex's desk is no joke. Not to minimize Alex's efficient efforts and expertise. I think comments like this actually minimize the entirety of the effort that goes into a repair like this as it only references the troubleshooting benchwork. Amazing work. Amazing video. :D

Alex, curious WHY so many electronics see to get shorts like this? Dirty power? Not using proper surge protection? Crappy components? Product abuse/misuse? I ask because I hardly ever have electronics go bad. Yet, I have friends who seem to always be needing something repaired or replaced. Maybe a combination of things?

If space is precious, engineers may have to use caps that run closer to their limits, raising the chances of an already marginal cap to fail. But eventually, some caps die even if the circuit provides a lot of margin.

I recently saw a video where the narrator has an interesting take on doing job or service for a customer. Paraphrasing: 'The cost a customer pays is not for your time. It's for a result.' The money is for your decades of experience and training on how to troubleshoot and fix a customer's problem. Whether you fix the problem in 3 minutes or three hours--depending on the type of work--is irrelevant. It's the result that matters. And the cost for reflects your ability achieve that result efficiently.

Modern componant failure particulary smd cap's as you say 80% shorts in most cases' also they're big brothers electrolytic's ect' but i will say the older electronics ( pre smd's & IC's ) had a better longevity , working on 70's Audio & Band Pa's and heads caps & resistors were easy to locate when failed ( after many years ) but now you have SMD's you barely see with the naked eye , makes me wonder when a componant fails after only a hundred of hours of duty , is all this minature componants the way to go ??

Hi, I have a question for you. I have a 2004 C230. It's been about 5 years since I replaced the remote fob batteries. It was starting to take a few attempts to unlock the doors so I figured it was time for new ones. I put in a fresh pair of CR2025's and it was working about the same. The next day it didn't work at all. I took the batteries out and each were already below 2 volts. So obviously something is failing and is drawing a lot of current. What would you expect to be the source and is it repairable? Also wondering if a replacement circuit board is a convenient option? I'd imagine there's some programming/learning involved? Thanks
