@@denistardif6650 No, that's false. Vietnam is just the first war where you see Black people in movies and video games. Vietnam was the first war where the ratio of African Americans on the battlefield was significantly out-balanced with the population, but the Korean War was the first time Black men were aggressively drafted for combat. They were always around in smaller numbers -even on the front lines. The Marines didn't put Blacks on the front at all in WW2, but the Army definitely did. I have a (Black) grandfather who fought in Italy as part of the US Army's 370th RCT (an all-Black unit) at the end of WW2. His unit was attached to an RCT of Japanese-Americans late in the war. They faced limited action at that point in the war, but he earned a Combat Infantryman Badge and absolutely refused to talk about his experience there. I also have 2 other black grandfathers (one is my father's stepdad) who fought in the Korean War -both were in integrated units. One was a soldier. He earned his Combat Infantryman Badge in 1951. My biological grandfather was an infantry Marine -the first of a legacy. The Marine Corps fully desegregated and introduced African Americans to regular infantry in 1949. My grandfather was among the first Black men to train at Paris Island (not a volunteer). A year earlier, Black men went to a separate training camp. All three of my grandfathers saw combat action -especially the Marine. Many Black GenXers have grandparents who fought in Korea. Most Black military officers I knew trace themselves to a generation of Black men who were recruited for the Korean War after integration That said, the Army was integrated during the revolution...

My grandpa was there as well. USMC - Bougainville, Guadalcanal, Peleliu and Okinawa. Still alive and about to turn 100! Tried to get some stories out of him about 15 years ago when the Pacific came out but of course was very generic about it, never any gory details for which I respect him. He can't remember stuff from last week or what he had for breakfast - but he remembers details about his time in the service like it happened just yesterday. Amazing man.

Me and buddy were both Marines in the early 2000s. His great uncle fought at Bougainville, even had his orders signed off by one Chesty Pully himself! I was just in Cairns Australia a few weeks ago and saw a memorial to those who fought there (Cairns was a FOB). The jungle environment was nasty and I’m just walking down the street, not even fighting in it. Hard men and tough times back then. Wish more people realized that.

Most unrealistic thing about all that sneaking is they would instantly see you creeping like somehow you magically can step through all that bush next to like 5 dudes without them noticing
@IRussian00711 ай бұрын
Very true. One thing even real actual US snipers will tell you about being stealthy is that even stupid people are smart. If you look at them even hundreds of feet away, they will look in your direction. Of course I know why that is-people have souls, they can't see you physically but can sense you subconsciously. So the way stealth works isn't by the enemy not knowing you're there but the enemy not knowing where you are in time before you strike or escape. You have to assume the enemy already know you're there but stay out of sight, make them think they're paranoid, seeing ghosts etc. There is nothing more dangerous than thinking you're invisible only to have them randomly stop, turn around even while in a heated argument and spot your crawling hobbit looking ass red handed in the cookie jar.

Though the date is off. The 93rd Infantry Division didn't get there until March 1944 and it appears this game is 1943. Also they did see quite a bit of front line combat. I understand your suspicion in the age of wokeness and I do suspect they choose this particular location just so they could show diversity in an otherwise non diverse historical war.
