This kid is a natural. He’s so fluid it’s incredible. He seems so humble and mannerable, a credit to his parents and grandmother the latter being his mentor and source of encouragement. Its crazy the level of detail , story telling and emotion this dance had, which for this style is a very rare thing. I remember watching this audition and kept it on repeat because Merrick is one special kid with a mountain load of talent, who makes us feel every part of the song. Howie summed it up perfectly 😃 😃

That young man's dancing it's fluidity blew me away and the way he emoted facially. The way he was able at such a young age to express the different feelings, and emotions with his face. The way he spoke with his eyes, as his dance flowed across the stage was breathtaking.

You know, I saw this when he originally did it in 2017 and it STILL gets me as much each time as it did the first. Merrick shows every nuance of confusion, emotional hurt, and physical pain of being abandoned and dying from it so well, that it's hard not to feel it with him. Even the audience gasps at the end, just overwhelmed by the power in the performance. You see people crying and totally understand. In the lead-up interview he says he's eleven, looks shocked, and then smiles as he remembers that he's twelve. Wow, what talent.

What a great dancer! The look on his face when he was done was so sweet. He picked a song that was age appropriate and was able to capture the emotions in the song like the song was composed for his dance. Amazing!
