PSA is being unnecessarily tough on everything lately - I’m not wasting my time with them anymore. The gap in value between their slabs and other companies is definitely narrowing as well. TAG and SGC seem to be gathering a ton of traction.

I love TAG. They tell you exactly why you got the grade you got.

My New Jersey ones have been impossible. The ones that stay in California are pretty spot on. It's weird.

I think this was a sweet reveal, honestly. These cards are so rare and tough condition-wise, even pack-fresh, that it makes total sense to grade. Why let them get any more wear? Easier to sell as well when you're ready. These will always have nice value. 1990's are still a complete mystery to 80% of current collectors (it seems?) and the more these tough 90's sets are graded, the more the collector's will realize sometimes a PSA 7 or 8 IS the unicorn copy...
@Cape_Cod_CollectorАй бұрын
Man that was harsh Scottie. Those cards should have gotten 1 full grade higher..except for the 10 haha. I agree PSA has been very difficult lately. Your final comment about resending the Betts in again, and it probably getting a 10 the second time through is exactly why I won’t submit to PSA and prefer SGC.
@kingoftheblitzАй бұрын
Personally I absolutely LOVE SGC slabs the best. It is significantly less time. 2/3 WEEKS from start to finish

Love this sub Scott! You subbed some crazy rare, condition sensitive cards. Hope non 90s guys know how hard high grades are AND how even mid grades are valuable. Hope to chat again at the 2025 National!

For some reason, I associate PMGs with BGS. I would crack the Walkers out and sub to BGS. Those particular cards look better in their slab.
@garygordon3075Ай бұрын
Hi Scottie. On that Griffey Upper Deck, I heard somewhere that they are critical on how the hologram looks on the back. The one you showed didn't look so great, so it possible that they deducted a full grade for that. All other aspects of that card are decent, accept the centering is a bit off
@Mattymatty2000Ай бұрын
I just had a particularly rough order as well. I cracked an SGC 9.5 Mookie 2014 Bowman Sterling refractor rookie and sent it to PSA and they gave it an 8. BARF! (All of which is to say I feel your pain, Scottie)

Scottie, you should try TAG grading while the World Series is still going they have a sale until it ends for I think 13/card. I would be curious to see your opinion on their service compared to the bigger more well known graders.

I’ve found lately that cards that should be 10s, but the declared value is lower than actual value, they seem to knock it down instead of upcharging

Submitted a card with the special, I haven’t graded with psa before. I’m seeing a lot of people say they got their cards back early. Is that common or should I just expect the 9 weeks and be excited if it pops early?

I won't care as much for the low grades if it's for my PC. If I flip, then I would crack and send some back for maybe a higher grade.

I’m always curious as to the benefits or lack of , grading a 1/1, would be interesting to see how much a multiplier a 10 does to a 1/1.
@swizzle1199Ай бұрын
The benefits are for card protection & uniformity within a collection.
@jeffjones8866Ай бұрын
For the protection 100% imo.
@scottiebcards2354Ай бұрын
I do it for the protection and authenticity of the card! Everyone knows it is real and unaltered. I also like the protection for displaying and handeling the card as well as the grade knowledge so people don't worry about condition. Thanks for watching!
@rileyesmayАй бұрын
The problem is often times people think a slab is the only way to preserve a card, but there's plenty of other methods these days that work just as well. Also with how PSA has upcharging based on value, I highly doubt any card under $500 is actually verified to be authentic, I'm sure cards over $5k or wherever the cutoff is to have to pay a bunch actually has an expert verify the card, but otherwise the authenticity doesn't really matter for cheaper cards as I doubt any grading company has all their workers know how to authenticate a card quickly and accurately, they focus on grading instead. Now, that said, a super expensive card has some good upsides, if a big company like PSA authenticates the card, their brand is on the line with a big card as everyone has eyes on it, so you know damn well it's authentic, and in a good case to have in your collection or sell, so at that point it would be a great idea to grade. But any low to mid end 1/1, there's no reason to grade at all, unless it's 1 of 50 1/1 in the set and you think you'll get a 10 making your unique

@LuisMartinez-sz8ehАй бұрын
Bro i got a card graded through my lcs and it came back a 9. Wanted to know why turns out they'll only reveal those details if you personally submitted them. My lcs inspected it before and said it was a 10 as well. Smh
@JA-gj3qtАй бұрын
Did you ask your LCS owner to inquire on your behalf since he submitted it? A good owner would do it for you because he wants to serve his customers and get repeat business. You're less likely to grade through him in the future if you don't get an answer...
