I realize you posted this 3 years ago - did you ever move forward having them graded? If so, did you use PSA? Man, I have so many - but narrowed down to bulk 20. But I’m still so hesitant to take that next step. I have some 86 Fleer NBA that I know are ‘potentially’ very valuable - but what will they charge me to get it back?? I even have one autographed in person… will they do an AU verification mixed in with bulk regular cards? I’m not a rich guy… and they really want you step out on a wing and a prayer, potentially blowing a great deal of money with initial investment. The card shops I go to for advice are ok, but everyone in this business is shady to a degree.

One of my favorite hobbies is finding REALLY nice PSA9's and doing BGS crossover reviews with a 9.5 min. Since PSA has no 9.5, some of their 9's are way better than an average 9 and are at least BGS9.5 worthy. If the card doesn't meet min grade they only charge you $20. If it crosses, you only pay the service fee with no up charge. To me this is a GREAT deal and very fair. With PSA you not only pay the full service fee regardless of outcome, but you're also upcharged on the new value too. A BGS9.5 with great sub grades is basically a PSA10 in value. So you instantly make 2-4x your money. Plus $20 is low risk if it doesn't cross.
@264rubymi3 жыл бұрын
Ryan Deffley can I cross my psa 9 over to bgs without cracking the case, and tell them that if it isn’t a bgs 9.5, then just return it in the psa slab?
@ryandeffley76523 жыл бұрын
@@264rubymi - Well here is the thing. There is a lot of politics between the grading companies. I'd say 95% of the time if you send in a PSA slab to BGS, it is an automatic reject. I can personally vouch for this. When I've tried to send in 9's in slab, they have it processed, "reviewed", and shipped back to me within 1-2 days. There is a backlog where two day service is supposed to take like 10 business days. So the fact that it comes back so quick means they didn't give it a fair review IMO. The ONLY true way to get a fair unbiased review is by cracking the card out and submitting it raw.

Thanks for the helpful information. I just submitted an ultra modern bulk and put all the cards at $199. I agree, if the card it’s worth more when it comes back, I wouldn’t mind paying. Two questions. 1. When determining max value, do you base that on whether it will grade at a psa 10 or not? So if i think its a 10 but it comes back a 9, will psa reduce the submission fee? 2. What happens if a card is valued at $1000 at time of submission but it goes down due to a market crash, say $200. Is the submission fee reduced? Thanks

How do I know what condition that I will think my cards in?
@gabeturner64514 жыл бұрын
Ever consider making a video on how to properly crack a case by a lesser grading company? Also, how often have you bought graded cards from other companies only to ship them off to PSA to get that value bump? To crack or just have them re-slabbed? $50 versus $12 (if doing bulk, which I know you do obvs). I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions. You can get graded 10 Jordans for about the same price as raw with some cards. I like the idea that ANY grading company gave it a 10 as it lessens the gamble slightly when buying from eBay. Some of those Jordans will jump to $200+ for a PSA 10 and still have good profit even if they come back at a 9. I'm testing the theory now and just got a handful of WCG 10's that look real nice condition. I am going to crack them as opposed to re-slabbing. The $50 price tag would kill the profit potential unless they came back a 10. Seems kind of no brainer but I am not the sharpest tool and am jumping on the train kind of late. I assume any edge I have found has been explored by someone with longer standing and a better knowledge base for sports cards. But I haven't seen anyone talking about this in depth as a strategy.

What happens if the opposite occurs, that you believe it is an expensive card and coming in at a 10 and select the category best fitting for that price range, but then they grade it lower, thus the value is lower. Do they adjust that fee then too? Great video, thanx!

Great video man! This was great! Question: Is there a way to pickup our order from PSA and avoid the insurance payment? Cause if its $10-$20 per card, plus shipping, and to insure the card on the way back, it makes me think about submitting cause it cuts into profit margins.

Yes suspended temporarily and will return at some point in January (per someone's comment below who said that they spoke with someone at PSA about this). Appreciate the video - for anyone, have a question: Going to send 50 modern cards shortly for bulk value grading. A few are over the $199 declared value ... say the order takes 5 months. As of now, I know I’ll be up charged $50 potentially for the cards valued higher, but that’s just because economy is down right? So say it is back by the time the cards go through 5 months from now - the upcharge would just be $20 right? Thinking of just sending those higher values cards now and banking on being upcharged $20 instead of $50 assuming economy returns by then ...

Hey Matt appreciate the video man I’m having trouble with the fourth step I seen your older video when you get to the fourth step you type in the name and then there’s an option on the right the one that says pick a grade and I see you leave that blank but then there’s the total value and I saw that you fill that part in so would I put 999 or would I put what I think the card is worth depending on what condition I think it is Based off of PSA pictures they have of different conditions and then go off of what it sold for on apr I’m trying to submit a Pokémon card and just one

If this is strictly for insurance to send it back to me, why wouldn't i just buy a plane ticket and come to them? Is that an option? If it is id do it every time.

I'm about to get some cards graded and live in OC about 10 miles from PSA. They won't let me submit the cards in person, but there are card shops around here that they do allow in-person submissions and in-person pickups - I'm planning to submit my cards through them. So in my case there is no insurance needed. I highly doubt there will be any reduction in fees because of this...

@@ksteege120 That seems shady as heck. They are providing me with a service, and i am paying them for that service. Nothing more. How can they charge you an extra $3000 just because the card happens to be worth money? They gave you the same service regardless. I even heard that if you do pay the extra money up front and the card grades less than you thought that they wont even refund you. This all seems very wrong.

Pulled a topps Artist Original Cole Hamels. Just getting into collecting. Is it worth much? I can't find anything on it.
