What's in the backlog? Probably modern cards yes, but there's a good chance a lot of middle era cards that weren't worth grading prior to last year were submitted. I'm excited to see the pop reports of those become fleshed out!

def majority of the backlog due to modern cards. 99% of the people in the hobby can only afford the modern sets, its the 1% that collect and buy the vintage stuff. supply will increase for sure and it could be a good time to buy those singles for ppl who want to enter pokemon TCG.

Word to the wise, if you're someone looking to buy graded modern cards you should probably wait. Once this backlog starts to be processed we'll see lots of supply hit the market and the pricing will reflect that. I have a lot of hyper rares that I want and I think I'll be able to get them at a much better price than today over the next 6-12 months.

It's the stimmy check boom. People like me typically don't have the money to send in enough cards to meet the bulk criteria and get the best value. Now I have a few grand extra and want to grade my stuff that's been sitting in my "to grade" box for a whole year.

the stuff that is in the backlog is tons and tons of binder collection cards. Mainly base unlimited and jungle/fossil unlimited and first edition. People submitted all this stuff in october/november based on what they currently had there wasnt too many folks that had modern cards.

What do you think about the price of PSA slabs entering the secondary market now because of this? Not sure if you talked about that somewhere else. I think some sellers will increase a bit more the price of their PSA slabs for sale , now that there is this "freeze" going on...but at the same time I think this will be temporary until this tidal wave flows into the market. I definitely think the same, majority of the tidal wave seems like it's modern, but there will be vintage for sure, a lot of vintage booster packs being ripped open online (even offline who knows), people discovering their long lost collections and grading some of that....i don't think it's minimal vintage in the back log but not substantial enough to modern. Who knows, fun to think about during lunch breaks/evenings lol.

I personally welcome this move and reason being is i beleive its bad practice to continue taking submissions while there is crazy backlog making it unfair for those who submitted nearly a year ago! So fair play to PSA for this. I also dont think it will dent their pockets in the grand scheme of things as theyr backed up by millions of cards so theirs plenty for them to eat but also aside from financial reasons it sends a trusting message to its customer base and i for one appreciate seeing as though im still waiting for August submission which i paid express plus for.

I think its fantastic. I keep hearing poketubers mentioning junk slabs, which is a little disappointing as i feel every pokemon card is has its own history and value (via the game, tv series, movie). I think people expecting huge drops in prices will be surprised. I am looking forward to picking up some cards to complete graded sets.

What I’m not hearing people discuss is the quality of the submissions in the new junk slab era. I don’t think the market will be affected as much as people think because I’m suspect that 85% of these submissions will be PSA 8 and below. Tons of these cards were sent in with no regard to the centering, print lines, silvering, and personal favorite - finger prints.
