When we are falsely accused or abused, we should pray for justice, but our goal should always be to uphold God’s righteousness. The psalmist prayed for justice, yet recognized God’s righteousness. Since I answer the Reflection Question after reading the scripture passage but before watching the video, I’m not sure where Dr. Getz will take it, but the question is: What should a Christian do for self-protection when lawlessness seems to be out of control. A Christian should use the legal system to his/her advantage, and there’s nothing wrong with owning and, if necessary, using a legal weapon for protection. When the Israelites were rebuilding the protective walls around Jerusalem, they had a tool in one hand and a weapon in the other. Physical protection is ‘easier’ to do for one’s self; emotional protection…not so much, but that’s where we just give it to God and let Him handle it, while we step away as best we can. When it comes down to it, “if God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Thanks for the teaching, Dr. G.

We should pray, tell God what is going on, then seek help and direction from God. In all we face we are to imitate Jesus with our interactions with people, especially difficult people. We can use the resources available to us, both naturally and spiritually. We must also recognize the battle we are fighting. “For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.” (Ephesians 6:12 HCSB) We must pray for our enemies and choose love whenever possible! “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.” (Luke 6:27-28 NKJV) My Prayer: Abba, Father, help me to: Love my enemies. Bless those that curse me. Do good for those that hate me. Pray for those that spitefully use me and persecute me. This is hard to do in the natural. Thankfully, we don't do it alone! "For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." (Romans 5:5 NLT) Be Encouraged!

This was great but I have a few questions. What was a bit confused by the ending of the jewish man story. Is the pastor saying he was punished because he took matters into his own hands and tried to stop hitler? Instead, he should have let God handle it just as Psalm7 say and Romans 12:19? Thanks for sharing.
