Just made it for dinner, put it over a bed of rice with fresh out of the oven Italian bread. My mother use to make this for my father, because us being Greek, everything was just about made with tomato and onions in our home. But I truly enjoy your recipes. thx Greg

When my grandmother would make this for dinner I'd run for the hills. I could never get myself to ever try this dish because for me, the ingredients never seemed to jive with fish. I'd rather have some Greek-style fried Cod fish with a nice dollop of Skordalia next to it, a chunk of Feta cheese, and some crusty Greek bread. I'm sure this recipe is excellent but it just doesn't work for me, LOL. Keep up the great work Demitra, we love you!

Hi Demetra, that looks delicious!😋. I make this dish as well but add a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom after the sauce then sauce then fish then sauce again. It's really good. I will try yours with pasta and mashed potatoes because it looks much better. Never even crossed my mind!🤨. I love pasta. I've made squid and shrimp in the same sauce so why not the cod. Try it with sardines(not the canned stuff) with fresh chopped tomatoes and onions, garlic, and oregano. Salt, oil and pepper off course. Can also be done with onions, oregano, oil and lemon. Cook the sauce and stir fry the onions before putting in the oven.....sardines cook fast(about 30 minutes or so). You're the chef lol. I leave the cooking time up to you. I could be wrong. I'm sorry but I just had to add this: My recipe isn't "authentic" like OTHERS are , but give it a whirl. Some comments are rude and not considered positive criticism. Take it with a grain of salt. To each their own right? This is 2019... Almost every recipe from 100 years ago has changed. I have cookbooks that old and new ones and they are NOT the same. This is why you have a cookbook and are on KZbin and the the rest of us are not....you are simply amazing!!! Keep doing what you're doing. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ your channel!!! Anyway Demetria have a fantastic day!!!😍. (I hope I didn't overstep by giving my opinion, I just couldn't............🙄
@DimitrasDishes5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing this with us!! I love all of the ideas and tips :) Especially the one with the sliced potatoes. That sounds heavenly and I can't wait to try it. As far as "Authentic" goes, Greek food recipes (just like any other ethnic food) varies from house to house. There is no ONE correct way to do it. I'm here sharing my way and I'm so happy when you all share Your ways with me. After all, the best part of making any of these recipes is sharing them with those that we love. xoxo

@@DimitrasDishes I totally agree Demetra, that's why I didnt like a certain comment made by someone regarding the authenticity of your recipe. I switch recipes around and try new things all the time. That's why I love your channel! No internet 100 yrs ago....today we have it. If they want to stick to authenticity, simply don't use the internet and don't communicate that way..... just write a letter lol! I'm sorry if I upset you, but I see it happening too often. Anyway, you have my support 100%. Keep on making your amazing recipes! By the way, I like the recipe with the potatoes even better when made with oregano, lemon, salt , pepper, and olive oil.( I looooove lemon lol !!!!!!😋😋😋). Have a fantastic day. Can't wait for your next recipe!😍. Sorry, just saw you posted one. I'm going to watch it now. XOX..

Psari plaki over pasta, hmmm? [It does look good no question about it, is just an other version of what I grew up in my island eating nothing but fish daily] I've been a Greek for the last 67 years, with my mother and my sister professional cooks, and I'm a cook my self, and I would never thought of serving psri plaki over pasta really, maybe to American clientele in one of those so called Greek - American restaurants in the states, but not to actual Greek people. Greeks do eat past with seafood like whole shrimps or lobster but no plaki.. Ellinoko psari plaki, ala Spetsiota [from the Island of Σπέτσες] is made with onions [Sicilians substitute onions with capers] salary leaves and some freshly cut tomatoes, salt and a bit of fresh pepper, nothing else, and cooked all together in the oven [or in a deep τηγάνι if is cooked in the fishing boat by the fisherman] the purpose of this dish is to be very lite and let the fish overwhelm the taste. What you've made there I think, is not plaki, it's Ragu or Γιαχνί σάλτσα [and I'm not sure that anything cooked in tomato puree onions and garlic is plaki either] I haven't missed any of your shows, but this is the second time a make a comment, and I definitely don't want to be critical, I just believe talented people like you, when the present an ethnic dish they should try to make it as the original Dish. The moment they change the method of cooking it or add additional ingredients, then they should call it "my version of psari plaki" I wish I knew how to send this comment to you privately... You are doing great work, keep it coming...
