For everyone wondering, this genre is called New Jack Swing. It was huge in the 90s, which was the decade Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment both came out and took place in, so having it be the theme in the CD shop is pretty appropriate. :)

@chrisdurand1441 Жыл бұрын
And that's an astute observation: DJ Shadow was mega in the 90s. He wasn't strictly New Jack (he had elements of trip-hop and acid jazz, among others) but some of his tracks dip into it.

@TheCelt93 I would mainly check out groups like New Edition (particularly songs like "If It Isn't Love" which this song is reminiscent of." A more contemporary track would be Hideki Naganuma's "JACK DA FUNK" , he uses a lot of the samples present in this song. Tracks to check out include.. Do You Remember The Time - Michael Jackson Poison - Bel Biv DeVoe and On Our Own - Bobby Brown..

This song is without a doubt the culmination of a composer who has had to scour sample CDs for hours deciding to throw a bunch of the cool ones together. I would also guess that the CD shop was named after the "Gigamacho" sample, it wouldn't be too far out to imagine other ATLUS employees might have asked one of their composers for suggestions for the music themed store.

This song is very catchy, albeit very weird. Like, it sounds like there are dogs barking in the background, police sirens blarring, a generic recording of someone repeating "halleluaha", which I am almost certain I've heard being used many times outside of this game, gunshots, and a woman rapping, whom I'm not sure whether she is a Japanese woman who just sounds African-American, or if they had an actual African-American woman rap in the song, neither of which is a bad thing, but that just brings me to my next point. At 1:33, I can't tell whether the woman said the "n" word, or if I just misheard what she said, since the music drowns out what she said at 1:33-1:34, and I can't tell if that was intentional or not. Regardless, I have some doubts that Atlus would go that far as to include "that" word, whether their singer was dark-skinned or not, given the controversy the word causes, I don't assume that they'd take the risk.
