I am a Louisville fan, but most of our city tuned out our team last year and after the downturn in the 2021-2022 season. Maybe the team will still turn out to be better than last year as 4 wins is not that high of a bar to hurdle (I hope). I felt that we would be able to win 10-12 games this season and be able to avoid the bad non-conference losses to teams like Appalachian State or Wright State. We may be fortunate to win 6. To be fair, we had opportunities last year. We took UVA to the wire and almost took that one, lost only by 8 at Miami (Final Four team), and nearly beat Wake. Syracuse was a 1 point loss. After losing last year to Lenoir Rhyne, we should have only won maybe 1 game last year if we played that same way the rest of the year. I still think we will be better than last year, but not by much. Maybe 6-8 wins. Hopeful for more though. I expected 1-2 embarrassing losses to weak non-conference teams before this, but now it could be 4-5 of those type losses. Losing to any D2 team is usually a major red flag. I am sure there are exceptions though. I seem to remember a Final Four Syracuse team having a bad exhibition loss like this. I don't think that this team has that type of maturity to respond. I hope I am wrong.

@bostonbragg9810 Жыл бұрын
They're similar to the FBS vs FCS games in college football. The D1 team pays the D2/D3/NAIA/NCCAA team to come to their arena and be an easy win. Hilarity ensues when the D1 team gets beat at home like in this video.
@bnegs521 Жыл бұрын
It did for a school like High Point located in North Carolina
@ChaseRiver2 Жыл бұрын
it doesnt, its more complicated than that, and the process of moving up a division is actually a multi-season process, I'm not exactly sure why they make it so annoying. These games happen all the time though, every school usually invites at least one D2/D3, probably two, for exhibition games before the season. Not all are televised/open for fans though.
@scott1564 Жыл бұрын
Most D2 schools have been D2 for decades and aren't looking to move. There are exceptions, of course. Abilene Christian, for example, made the transition from D2 to D1 about a decade ago. However, ACU was at one point in the Southland Conference (D1) and returned there. They were FCS in football and then moved to the WAC a couple of years ago. A more recent example is Texas A&M - Commerce (formerly East Texas State) who was also in the Lone Star, but other long time Lone Star schools like Midwestern State in Wichita Falls or A&M Kingsville (formerly Texas A&I), or Angelo State have been in D2 and the Lone Star forever. The Lone Star, at least in football, used to be an "outlaw" league where misfits who got kicked off D1 teams found a home. But D2 has changed a lot since those days. I went to college (a D1 school) with a lot of guys who either got D2 offers or played a year or two of one sport or another at a D2 school. Those that didn't go -- mostly football guys -- usually had an injury and decided against taking a risk on making it worse. Those that gave it up and transferred realized they were working out 40+ hours a week and it wasn't that much fun anymore. They often played in front of more people in high school and travel really sucked.
