Crazy stuff, almost makes you miss how much "homering" was done by the clock operator on that late drive...whistle at 10, clock stops at 08. Ref starts clock, QB spikes in less than 1 second, clock goes to :06. Three extra seconds from 6 to 9? One extra play maybe. This is why your clock operator can suddenly be your best friend when you are at home.

Uhm this is not a passing play anymore, this is a running play, so any lateral passes have to be behind the person who threw the ball. They cant throw a forward pass at this point. If you look at the last play, they passed the line of scrimmage early on in the play, so at this point its now a running play and they cannot pass forward. So later in the play when the guy lateraled, it went ahead of him, so now its a illegal forward pass. Pretty simple to understand actually.

That call is incorrect. It was NOT a dead-ball foul on Ball State The play was still alive. I think there were 2 illegal forward passes, but that doesn't matter. Coming off the sidelines, onto the field while, while the play is alive, is not dead-ball. The penalties should have offset and because the defense committed a penalty, they should have had 1 untimed down from the previous spot.
