Just to clarify I really couldn’t care less if somebody doesn’t bother naming subgenres when for ex. saying what music they listen to, but in the given context when someone states what the perfect example of a genre is, I believe it doesn’t hurt to be a little more specific. It is as if acid house, ambient house, electro house, and so on were ‘disqualified’. Historically and stylistically house subgenres have their own significance. Had it not been for acid house, the rave scene wouldn’t have boomed, or IMO ambient house and early 90s trance have close connections. To conclude, had the original comment been “If someone asks you what French House is, here we have the perfect definition.”, I feel it would be far more accurate.
