I doubt the Int requirement isn’t a big problem any more than a Paladin needing Cha. Plus, if you want to build this subclass from level one, you probably plan ahead with your Ability Scores depending on how you generate stats.
@URGE4 жыл бұрын
Paladin is a bit different as it is a half caster with spells like smites that don’t have saving throws or chance to hit but just extra damage. That means you can just pick those types of spells that don’t really rely on Cha score at all and you’ll be fine. With this, these abilities rely more on having that int score to be more effect if that makes sense. Of course you’ll know that ahead of time, and you’d probably get by fine with a +3. We just aren’t big fans of stuff like these hybrid “1/3 spellcasters” subclasses. Thanks for watching!
@Hyde09914 жыл бұрын
@@URGE I suppose Paladins also have core class abilities that scale with Cha while fighter explicitly does not have anything work off of Int that isn’t a subclass. And if you’re not interested in just using the Fighter’s extra ASIs to bump Str, Con, AND Int then the subclass gets a little tricky to work with. Still, I’d be happy to play this one over the Eldritch Knight.

I feel like you guys didn’t talk about how effective the protective field feature can be. While the damage it may reduce seems limited, it’s always applicable. It doesnt require the damage to be from an attack roll, saving throw, ability check, or even a damage roll. It can be used to reduce ANY damage, regardless of the source, so long as: -the damage occurs within 30ft of the warrior -warrior has a die and reaction -warrior can see the creature. •Rogue fails to disarm a trap and is damaged in some way, the warrior may reduce the damage. •somebody takes fall damage, warrior may reduce. •someone fails a saving throw vs a spell or other harmful effect, warrior may reduce. •spells and effects that don’t actually roll damage may be reduced, such as guardian of faith. Fighters usually don’t have particularly useful reactions, this ability gives this subclass the ability to potentially prevent quite a bit of damage throughout the day against exactly who needs it. Could be quite handy at keeping a caster on their feet and reducing concentration saves.
@jaredpuwalski85454 жыл бұрын
I’d say this subclass is even more reliant on intelligence than eldritch knight is because EK’s can just pick spells that don’t use intelligence.

The tiny object restriction only limits what you can move to and from your hand with telekinetic movement. You can still move objects large and smaller with it. As well as allies.
@Ryuseigun6873 жыл бұрын
I’ll say this, but there wasn’t much official ruling with the telekenetic movement which is a bit annoying at times, but can really work in your favour. I played this in a campaign and I was able to lift large rocks 30ft into the air and drop them on enemies, and that would do a TON of damage. This fighter subclass is really fun and really useful. I rolled bad stats but my character is still somehow alive because the subclass is so versatile, I heavily recommend trying it out

While some weapons are small, and others are medium, plenty of weapons count as Tiny. Daggers are a solid example of tiny weapons. Remember that Small is the size of a halfling or gnome - unless the weapon is just as large as they are, the weapon is Tiny or smaller. (As a general rule, Light weapons are Tiny, Heavy weapons are Medium, and all other weapons are Small.)

I just finished a campaign with my triton psi fighter. I never picked fighter before because they all seemed boring, boy was I wrong! I destroyed the main enemy ship almost entirely on my own. Firing their own cannon balls back at them with telekinetic movement, using protective field to save our ship and then swimming under their ship and doubling physical strikes with psionic strikes to sink their ship. I highly recommend it!!
@jbgibson73743 жыл бұрын
The third level telekinetic ability can allow you to cripple certain spellcasters (gm dependent) by stealing spell components or censers. Though this ability would be absolutely busted if it could be used in reaction, it’s still really good if you strategize
@prophetisaiah084 жыл бұрын
It's not hard to start with two 16s for stats, and the fighter gets more ASIs than any other class, so managing this character could be fine. You may end up with your CON being slightly lower than other fighters, though (+1 instead of +2 or +3).

@JediMasterPhilip2 жыл бұрын
The Intelligence isn't a huge ask. Fighters get 2 extra ASI's. Focusing on str, con, and int; or dex, con, and int; (your choice, depending on whether you want light, medium, or heavy armor) you can get a decent spread at level 1 with point buy, clocking in at 16:14:16, respectively. By level 20, you can have all 3 of your main scores capped, a feat monks WISH they could achieve. You would be accurate, tough, and have subclass abilities that reliably hit. That's nothing to sneeze at. Being MAD doesn't make fighters mad. Want a feat? "Settle" for an 18 in Con or int. That's still really good.

I got to play one of these in a level 5 one-shot. Telekinetic movement was a lifesaver, I saved so many party members with that ability. Every fighter has the same problem with being hit at higher levels, so i don't think what you guys bring up is actually a problem. A battlemaster is still going to have all of the same problems. The ASI's don't seem like an issue to me, partly because fighters get more of them, but also for feats I am definitely taking telekinetic, and probably telepathic, and both of those have a +1 int rider. If you start with a 16 int, and take both of those feats, you are at 18 already fairly early. You'll probably not be a giant damage dealer, but you'll have a ton of battlefield utility. And maybe you'll get lucky and find something that gives you a strength bonus and won't have to worry about adding extra points. Magic items DO exist!
@binolombardi4 жыл бұрын
I may be wrong but I think you guys seem to have slightly misinterpreted the telekinetic movement portion of this subclasses Psionic Power feature. -You can target loose objects of large size or smaller -you can target a willing creature other than yourself, with no size limitation. -if the object being targeted is tiny, you can additionally move it to or from your hand. -target is required to be seen, be within 30ft range of you, and must be laced in an unoccupied space within 30ft of you, unless it’s a tiny object since that can end in your hand(the spot you occupy).

@URGE4 жыл бұрын
Definitely better having extra ability score improvements being a fighter, but just feels a bit awkward going into int with the limited abilities. You don’t have to fully invest in int, but if you don’t support it much, you’re abilities will be pretty lackluster. Thanks for watching!

"Many Githyanki train to become such warriors." Hmm... a race of evil space warriors that can move objects with their mind... called the "Gith"... Not exactly a subtle reference is it?
@bryananderson66454 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, the earliest mention of Githyanki is in a GRRM novel from '77 and has nothing to do with either the Sith or the D&D race (beyond the name). Pretty sure the script for A New Hope was the first mention of 'Sith' in Star Wars, also in '77. So unless GRRM got an early draft of the script, used the name in the novel, and expected it to be adapted into an entirely different context. . . Well, it's still an interesting parallel at least.

Medium Armor Master, Shield and Scimitar, Blind Fighting (fighting style) for the quote that Obi-Wan tells Luke to never trust his eyes. A general skirmisher-type fighter, with force powers. Honestly I’m looking forward to playing it. Should I go for +3 int by the end or +4 through feats? I don’t want to do too heavy of an investment if I don’t need it, but I’m asking because I’m not the smartest. I will be getting Dexterity to 20, and Constitution will probably be 14, but I might get INT and CON to 16 instead of keeping INT at 14. I have no clue I rolled decent stats so now it’s just going from there lol 😂

I think point buy dex high elf: str 10 dex 14 ---> 16 con 14 int 15 --->16 wis 10 cha 8 And use your lvl 4 and lvl 6 ASI to max int, then your con at 8 and later? (I think +3 Dex is fine, at level 7 you knock someone prone with max Int, then multiatttack, so you can sometimes hit). The concentration part let war caster a tempting option, but I think it is ok to let it be. Or max Dex first and let the intelligence for later, level 8 put +2 con, because at 15th level when you need 5 int modifier you got it from lvl 12 and 14 ASI. Weird? Yes, but i think is ok.
@Adjacentred Жыл бұрын
I was thinking do the same thing but instead of bringing int to 15 do 14 plus 1 and at lvl 4 take telekinetic feat for the plus 1 int bringing it to 16. That way you have 2 more attributes points for somthing else.
@hephaestusmac4 жыл бұрын
Normally I'm ok with all this but honestly the fact they think having three good ability scores is hard to get is astounding
@URGE4 жыл бұрын
Not hard to get 3 good scores, but 3 great scores is another story. You want your primary to be 20 and if you have abilities/spells you normally want that to be the 20, but with this, your attacks and abilities are on separate abilities so it’s a bit awkward. We aren’t big fans of these type of subclasses that force you to have 2/3 good scores instead of only needing 1 max stat (like a Hexblade warlock or just a normal subclass that doesn’t add an extra stat for example). It’s still above average and solid, but if you split your scores too much, you’ll either have lower health, lower chance to hit/damage, or your abilities will have low saves/damage. Merry Christmas and thanks for watching!

Bonus action shove an enemy, wail on him and grapple, on next turn spend psi die on flight, combining with mobile gives flight speed of 80 feet. Move grappled opponent in the air for 30 feet while punching in face in air, spike the enemy to the ground where they take 3d6 bludgeoning, use remaining movement to move 20 feet down and fall 10 feet above the creature and land on it.

The requirement for intelligence as well as strength or dexterity really isn't a big issue. Your save DC goes up with your proficiency modifier as well and the die for psychic abilities also increases with level, so it's not entirely dependent on your intelligence modifier. You can easily go 14 in your 3 main stats (strength/dexterity, constitution, intelligence) without dumping all your other stats. Also, intelligence is the dump stat for fighters? I don't think so. If you want a low intelligence martial character who just beats the piss out of people with a stick, it sounds like barbarian is a better fit. The fighter description implies rigorous training which I align with military training today. Sure, fighters learn how to fight with all weapons, but they also study combat and war, they should have some knowledge in: armour and weapon maintenance, human physiology, nutrition, psychology, history of war, tactics, map reading and navigation, infiltration, information acquisition, etc.
@URGE4 жыл бұрын
14 in primary stats will give you a lower chance to hit, lower damage and your abilities will be weaker as well (not to mention lower health). Having a 10 intelligence is about an average person, so you aren’t necessarily a bumbling, frothing idiot with a 10 or even an 8/9. It’s fine to split stats, but if you split, then you are inherently just not going to be great at any one thing. Just our opinion. Not bad, but not great either. Above average and acceptable. Thanks for watching!

I liked it before they made it psychic battlemaster. I was tankier, felt more free and natural with it's abilities, and the later abilities were simply better in mine own opinion. It was a cool concept, having a single die that grows and weakens with your overusage of the ability, but not it's just battlemaster and eldritch knight, managing fucking resources as a fighter that already has to split it's stats 3-4 ways. Jedi, which this was definitely molded after, don't have to worry about "can I jump or push again today before sitting down for hours?". Takes the initial sense of special...ness? the subclass held. Your dice are gone? Now you're are just a dude with a sword and a smooth brain because i guess my brain is tired Nerfed, and not for the better. Unfortunately, it is what it is and won't be changing
