[PSO: Blue Burst] Gearing Your Character (Part 1: Normal & Hard)

In this video for Phantasy Star Online, I'll go through some recommendations for new players as they progress through Normal and Hard. There are a couple of pieces of gear in particular I'll highlight, as well as some basic info on what to collect to make money.
Part 1 covers Normal and Hard, while Part 2 will cover the later difficulties of the game.

When do you upload?
I usually upload two videos a week (one mid-week and one on a weekend).

At the moment, mainly all things Phantasy Star Online-related. However, I do occasionally look at other games, like the Monster Hunter series.

Good to hear! I try to cover Phantasy Star in general (well, PSO onwards), so there'll be a mix of PSO, NGS and other Phantasy Star content. I still have plenty of PSO videos planned though if you prefer that ☺️

@@SectionSkyly Also, one thing you can do when making a new character is to move over a level 200 mag from someone else. (Joke). I may have a problem, I have 15 level 200 mags.

I'm currently Lv10 FOmarl looking for cake 3 floors deep in some cave. I would honestly be completely lost without stumbling upon your beginners guide and this video though, thank you! I always wanted to give PSO a shot, now is my time!

Thanks to your videos I got back into PSO 😸👍 I used to play online ages ago but I’ve decided to start afresh, about 35 hours in, finished normal and have started Hard caves, got an Inferno Bazooka off an Al Rappy so that’s my main weapon now, I’m waiting to get an HDMI adapter for my GameCube so I can get that back online (very glad I bought the broadband adapter when they were still in production, prices are nuts these days!) Thanks for inspiring me to get back into this game, I’ve got so many fond memories playing this it’s all coming back 😸

I started watching this the other day and forgot to comment because of the new year: Thank you for following my suggestion and going through drops and "how to think" when trying to progress, I've done multiple characters on multiple PSO servers and I've always had a hard time deciding what to farm or where to even begin, and this helps me alot getting the thought process down. How do you get the “Dressing Room” option at character selection screen?

If you're on GameCube or Xbox, have 10,000 or more Meseta on your character and it'll appear. On Blue Burst, you have to instead join a team that has the Dressing Room unlocked.

Can i give a little advice to? I usually when i start anew, i start by doing the side story mission, to get a decen early rare weapon, Soul Eater. Also unloking the quest to make weapons from enemy parts and getting a decent source of money. Yeah is little annoying having to make the room again and again, but i think it worth it.

Soul Eater is really solid for low level, yeah. I will probably do a separate video on how to get that! Generally I will try and just get into VH as fast as possible, but you're right in that taking some side quests for gear like Soul Eater is usually worth it.

When you said “have someone make games for you” can players with other ids make a party and you get their drops?

Yeah, the game always works based on whoever is the party lead. So if you have a skyly leader and you're pinkal, your drops will be skyly for that game!

Does any of the gear you wear in this game affect your character's cosmetic appearance?

Yes! There are frames/armour with visual effects (for example, Aura Field adds a blue flame to your character). Quite a few of the shields are also visible. For armour it tends to be a visual effect rather than actually changing the character model.
