You can also feed mags the healing items instead of furniture to lower dex too. S-Atk : monomate R-Atk : dimate T-Atk : trimate

Brian not sure if you're aware of this, but you can get food items from Tiflis, using photon spheres. Two spheres for three food items. The benefit of using the food item over gear is two fold, first it will only raise the stat that is listed on the food item S-ATK, R-ATK, T-ATK, ect.. second, using the food items does not fill the percentage bar. This might be a little outside of a 101 guide, but I thought I should share it. The drawbacks that I see with the launch of the US version is there won't be many Photon Spheres floating around initially.

The easiest for sure is Dexterity for beaver and bouncer. I recommend trying those classes first, feeding your mag exclusively discs, then use late game resources on food items for other mags to specifically train one stat at a time.

Thankfully, for those of us who will to play with multiple classes and be versatile with just one character, additional mags cost just $3 (300 AC) each. So it's not too taxing to get 2 extras in order to spec on each for SATK, TATK & RATK.

A second question I have is in regards to the concept of a tank mag. How effective would it be with a spread of 60 in each def type and the last 20 in dex? How much would that extra def benefit the player?

im gonna go for the rare evolution mags, i used to make a killing with that on psobb and sell em for pds once you understand the math algorythm on how to feed their stats just right its kinda addicting when they evolve at lv100

It’s all a matter of preference and what you are going for, a pure build gives you the ability to max out your main stat thus your damage. However you should do what best suits you and your goals :)

Pet's use T-ATK as their base damage stat, so a T-ATK mag should serve you well :D

No you don't have to pay, you can do that via an "evolution device" which is earnable via different campaigns and that will let you change the look.

If any heroes want to add to this, feel free. But Hero uses one of each of the stats. I would say, set it up so that you're focusing your mag on your main type of attack (be it striking, ranged, or tech) so if you prioritize striking, do that, otherwise, focus on what you end up doing the most. I did try to find a hero mag build guide to see if one existed, but couldn't find any.

@@devmen3210 Hero has a skill on its skill tree that converts 200 of ANY attack type into 200 of ALL three types. As for maining TMGs, its not recommended since TMGs are hero's weakest weapon and are mostly used for pp regen but honestly if you dont care about that then go ahead and do what you like.

its fine if you only use katana. also by using pure s-atk mag, you can benefit from using hero/etoile main, etoile sub, and also arrays of s-atk class which is the majority of all atk

As a total n00b that just started playing the game a week ago, my question is simply... WHY is it bad to have a mag that's not super-specialized in one (and ONLY one) attribute? I get that, from a min-maxer's perspective, everything in the game is about maximizing only the critical numbers you want for your "One True Playstyle"... but if you're NOT trying to min-max yourself into a corner, what's the downside of spreading mag levels across multiple attributes?

So as you play the game I say it’s fine the built it the way you want and not worry about it. However that comes with a steam $$$ curve later if you ether want to build a new one or try and fix yours. So it’s just a preference thing. If your fine with spending a few bucks later to try and min/max or not bothered by min/maxing then just have fun and build free :)

@@GingerPrimeGaming You misunderstand my question. I don't doubt your advice, I don't understand WHY spreading points out between attack and defense is considered bad. I hate blindly following any kinds of guides or advice unless I understand why the are correct, or helpful. So, I was hoping for an explanation of why going all offense is considered to be so much better than defense that it's the "normal" way people do things in this game. Is defense just not helpful?

@@quixadhal I think it's more along the lines of "damage output is king". I play a lot of Warframe and Monster Hunter World, and just started PSO2 a few weeks ago. The common theme between both, at least in terms of what the Meta is, is that enemy death is the best form of Crowd Control. More damage means quicker completion times and less opportunities to get killed/incapacitated. If you have a caster on your team, you may not have to worry about healing as much. Last, some missions (and I'm sure late-game missions especially) have time limits, and if your DPS isn't up to snuff, you literally cannot complete the content in time. Purely from an efficiency perspective, it's best to max out attack, and if you're an excellent player who knows the boss' attack patterns, you shouldn't be getting hit much. That said, nobody is perfect. I know I'm not an elite player, so I've been splitting my Mag level up between Tech Power and Melee Defense (I'm a Jet Boots Bouncer) so I can survive direct hits. Lots of Meta builds for PSO2 seem to use Hunter as a Main or Sub Class purely because of their survivability (although the extra melee damage doesn't hurt either), showing that even elite players can make costly mistakes that chunk their health. Play the way you want, and build your mag the way you want, but if you stick with the game long term enough to reach the content that may require it, understand that you MAY need a new or reset mag.

@@quixadhal what I get from other sorts lets say if you play Katana only for Phantom or Braver and go either 200 DEX or T-Atk you get a 4% I hear from Discord than I hear from a Video 6% but Imma believe Discord so 4% in dmg dealt. Now if you were to lets say split the Mag like 100 T-Atk and 100 S-Atk you only get 2% dmg dealt. Basically if you want maximum dmg in your main class youll go lvl 200 in the attribute its needed to deal maximum dmg

I am brand new to PSO2 and trying to learn the mag as I was told it’s crucial from the beginning. I’m a force and probably going to focus on pure tech attack. Why should I worry about not having dex? I understand it’s for melee users mostly, but does it take away from other levels? Or can I just ignore it leveling up as I focus on my attack?

I've been allowing my Mag to gain levels in Dex even though I'm a Katana Braver because some of the better weapons need Dex requirements. I wouldn't mind if my S-Atk is lower by, let's say, 40 than it maybe could have been. Does it really matter to get every last level on S-Atk?

It's not "bad" but if you're going for a pure mag that is powered up in one stat, you want to keep the focus there. Dex is good for the classes I listed, so it's a bit complex.

Really not much different from the original PSO mag. I’m very glad that they separated mags and partner machines, to be honest partner machines seemed lame and disappointing. However PM’s can go on separate fetch quests for you while you’re out doing something else which is useful but I’m not a fan of PM’s.

Ginger Prime yeah, I’m sure it’s to cover the free to play part. In PSO 1 you can find level 5 mags just laying around when you reach level 30. I’m not gonna lie I’m ready to put about $60 into this game just to support it and I know that I will enjoy every penny of it.

Since you can dodge in this game most builds are min/max for damage, since you won't be getting hit much once your used to the game This is esp true for fighters using Limit Break, where 1 hit will kill you anyway so def is meaningless

Because you want to focus class-relevant damage only - the other damages have no point, dex is hardly useful, and the defenses are almost useless. That leaves just the damage type for the class. Was explained 😅
