I'm actually not sure either. I know the music disc lists all three "phases" separately, but I can't make out what specifically they're used for. Fortunately, it's all description/title related so I can fix em up when/if I find out.

@@skoodtube4113 I forgot one important thing about Ams: it has armored/unarmored modes after rage mode. Wonder if the song changes at least slightly?

Pretty late reply, but can confirm that Ams uses three themes in-game. Phase 1 is used while Ams is blue regardless of state, Phase 2 is used while Ams is red and armored, and Phase 3 is used while Ams is red and unarmored.
