The adhesive of the regular tape might melt with battery heating up over time and you might have a sticky surprise when you open it up next time. The mod was a cool idea but please for your own sake buy a small roll of electric tape for electronics for 2-5 bucks especially wen working on a rare PSP such as the PSP go...it will be a good investment for your channel as it is a PSP channel for mods games and more! Yeah exactly my thoughts while watching the video, and even if he did switched to black tape I would still not advise to put the adapter on top of the battery for that same reason also, I think it would be better to bend it with low risk of damaging the cable than to risk it of something goes terribly wrong after that battery heats up alot and possibly damaging the whole system

I cringed through that whole thing. Laying the SD card across the battery. Using scotch tape instead of kapton tape. Watching the back and sides bulge, knowing the stress it’s putting on the already weak locking tabs and two screw holes on top. And the icing on the cake was seeing the *GAP* where it wouldn’t close, and being told, that’s ok folks, it’s perfectly fine if your electronic devices don’t close all the way. The insides don’t mind being left exposed and vulnerable to dust and humidity! Seriously? And guys like this are TEACHING others??? Omg, I just can’t…

BTW, the tape you are referring to is kapton (nonconductive) tape. It prevents metallic conductive components from contacting each other and shorting something out.

I inserted the adapter, did everything and i have two problems, one there is a blinker that keeps blinking red light on the right side of the psp (in the other side of the blinker that blinks in green color) and the other problem is that the psp cant locate the memory stick, what do i do in this situation?

This is cool. I would get a PSP go but they are really expensive right now. I seen them around the same price as a ps vita which makes no sense to me. I will just stick with my 2 psp 2000s. Great video and info though if I pick up one for a PSP go for a reasonable price.

Man this is the stuff i was waiting for. For me the Go is one of the most portabke consoles ever. I use it with a 30k mha power bank and the only thing holding me to enjoy it is the limited storage capacity.

kapton tape is what your thinking of, mostly used for head resistance and the stronger adhesive. thanks for the video.

they have the mod wire now in the zigzag style so you dont have to set the card on your battery, great tutorials! im getting the zigzag wire type but instalation are exactly the same

1:55 the reason Sony didnt use SD cards in their systems is because SD cards were the main competitor to memory sticks, which Sony owned. its like saying 'why doesn't my PSP play DS games?' the reason why they are so hard to find is because they are a failed format

I'm posting on comments on these videos to see if anyone has taken the time to find a cleaner version of this mod. I'm looking for(and attempting) a solution that doesn't require removing plastics, etc. or having the back bulging either by slimming down the profile of the adapter or finding some kind of SD card with the M2 connections integrated. I've taken apart one of these adapters and the M2 to SD card controller board is fairly slim. My approach may be to solder controller board directly to an SD card without any housing, since I much rather damage that than the PSP itself. Has anyone done something similar?

It’s been a long time since I’ve connected mine to my computer, but yes, I’m pretty sure you can access the memory card that way to add or delete games. But please do yourself a huge favor and DON’T follow this guy’s guide. He literally did every single thing wrong, which he’ll end up paying for later. I cringed just watching it. There’s tons of guides for doing this by people who actually know what they’re doing. Do yourself a favor and find a different guide to follow. You’ll be glad you did.

I think you can use 256, at least on the normal psp it works. But it's a lot of storage, innecessary I should say, and slower in the xmb menu. You'll be fine with 32 gb and the games will show up quickly

I personally ran a dual-card adapter with two 128gbs. Found a few people with issues using a single card adapter and trying to go bigger than 128gb. I inserted one 128gb into the PSP GO, and formatted it through the PSP. I removed it and put in the second 128gb card and formatted that as well through the PSP. Then I powered it off. Inserted both 128gb cards and formatted it all together for about 210gb of usable space.
