I'm so glad they just sticked with remixing P2's original tracks in this game rather than creating a whole new soundtrack. Also, the fact that they remastered some parts of it while leaving some of the iconic PS1-music effects is just fantastic!

The reason they gave for remaking the original Persona's soundtrack was that it was a composite soundtrackmade by six different composers with no actual theme beyond just "90's videogame dark synth". Not to defend Meguro for his choices with the soundtrack (it's his worst soundtrack period) but the original was pretty generic as well. That said Persona 2's soundtrack followed a theme and due to fan backlash to Meguro's soundtrack they decided for a straight remix. I find it slightly amusing that Meguro was busy recording Catherine's soundtrack during the time of the Persona 2 ports, because Meguro also did not work in Persona 2 due to a similar scheduling conflict. He was busy making the soundtrack for Maken X and Maken Shao (coincidentally both Maken X and Catherine are directed by Hashino).

I just recently purchased the PS1 version of Eternal Punishment, and I am loving it. I have now played every official Persona game (not counting remakes or spinoffs) aside from Innocent Sin and the original. I would buy Innocent Sin, but I dont have a PSP.

I was young and innocent when my machine gun was reflected and I wiped my own party... Still trying to get the SMT4 neutral ending before getting Final...
