I just restored an old Army Pick Up truck with a new LS V8 engine and interior and I about duplicated what you guys did before I even saw this video. A lot of it is common sense once you understand Kenetic/Aucistic energy. My truck is a 86 Chevy K30 with104mm Side pipes and I was really worried it would be very annoying or terrible to drive longer distances but thanks to all the sound proofing, even my girlfriend approved and she can get annoyed quickly 😂. My insulation job was more with engine/road noise in mind and to keep cool in the summer since this old truck is a big Tin can. Keep up the great Work Peter !

Did pretty much the same thing on my last car. Except I had dash out and did the full firewall. Also bought the quietest tyres I could source. Took me around 6 months of 2 to 3 hours a day after work, and weekends. Thinking about it now brings back some horrific memories :) Don't under estimate how much time and money it takes to do this properly. Nice video Peter. Will be interesting seeing the measurement results 👍

Acoustically speaking there is "Attenuation" of say,, an auto's panel resonance. . And there's the "blocking" of noise (frequency dependant of course) . Mass Loaded Vinyl cab be flexible but almost always heavy .... Enjoyed viewing your work.

Great vid Peter. I can 100% recommend sound treatment. I did this to my car... under estimated just how much work is involved !!! ... took me 6 weeks and added 100 Kg to the weight of the car, but the cabin is now totally silent inside.... if you have the $ and the time, is well worth doing :)

Quite thorough👍 I'm working on mine in the scion. It's not cheap to do it correctly but it will definitely be worth the efforts. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Fine work by Eddie, can't complain about workmanship but I didn't see any boot door damping. I saw a video of a guy testing damping on wheel arch cladding and he recorded 2-3dB reduction in road noise at highway speeds.

It’s not hard brother…. Even the sound deadening from Amazon works good. You don’t need Dynomat or anything with a big brand name. Even the doors trunk and cabin floors make a HUGE difference!! Get a buddy to help and you’ll get it done in a day.

@@pssound9749 I was talking about what I suggested he do.lol. Just the doors, trunk floor and the front floor panels. Him and a buddy “Should” get it done in a day, likely a weekend, I was being optimistic. I don’t want people looking at this work and thinking it’s impossible to do. I like to try to encourage people to get their hands dirty and not be intimidated. and yes, this job would likely take over a week. It a big job. It takes me a day to do one door. All openings I cut and rivet aluminum too the door frame. If I get a chance, I’ll post pics in the FB Group.

Be cool to have someone like you do some testing with different brands and varieties of sound deadener. You might try EMF audio's 160 mil sound deadener. You can get online, he ships worldwide.

I don't believe I have much hope to stop resonating door panels in my SUV. Each door holds a Stereo Integrity TM65 midbass. 150 watts to each driver makes them boogy.

Doors always suck! Some of them are alright, but they can never be as rigid as an enclosure or a kick build with rigid mounting.

I have a question about roof panels. Do you recommend using butyl damping mat followed by a MLV + CCF sandwich on the roof panels or is butyl and CCF sufficient without the MLV?

There is no road noise coming through the roof, so there is no need for MLV, plus good luck fixing it up there, pretty much impossible! 😃

Don’t use in inside of the doors, only on the doorcards on the cabin side.

Excellent! im waiting for test on road !! I´ve the same engine but Ford , my soundproofing took me 5 days of my holidays ( 8 hours at day) but i never end it at all ( i only applied alubutyl) Do you know Kaiflex products Peter ?? It is well known in caravans, what u think about? Greetings

Your question is not too clear, but if it’s about the MLV, then no, that doesn’t resonate as it has CCF on both sides.

@@bablusonavne384 The aluminum/buttyl product is fully adhered to the panels and therefore stops resonance. Mass loaded vinyl is floating on the foam baking and is designed to block incoming noise. Two different products but designed to work together

Would the foam sound absorber be better on the outer door skin inside the door? As most mids play into the cavity. Reather than on the door card? Adding mass to a door card isnt that jusy a waste as it wont flex/drum like metal?

Absorber is definitely needed on the doorcard for isolation of hard surfaces to minimise buzz & rattle. It’s always worth to add to the doorcard too if it’s made of cheap plastic as even if you have no speaker in the door, the bass in the cabin is gonna make it come alive, shake, vibrate and rattle. Extreme end of the treatment would be fibreglass & lead shot on the back of it. Inside the cavity you use CCF too & black hole tiles, which are available in US.

Generally you see people use super strong Velcro for MLV/CCF combos- idk what Peter used here

MLV on the floor you don’t need anything. On vertical sides you can use velcro. In this one we just squashed it in as we had so many different layers.
