Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories, known in Japan as Yu-Gi-Oh! Shin Duel Monsters is a game inspired by the anime and manga series Yu-Gi-Oh. It's a card game, where the objective is to place monster cards that have different values of attack and defense, magic cards and trap cards and reduce the opponents life points to zero. The story of the game is told in alternating two events: the first takes place in ancient Egypt and the second is a tournament that takes place in contemporary times.
It is a very good game and with great soundtrack, but he follows somewhat different rules of the game of Yu-Gi-Oh! in real life, in this game the player has very strong hands already practically won the duel and do not need to make monster sacrifices (called "tributes" in more realistic versions) to put strong cards in the field. However getting strong cards is not easy in this version, to get cards from strong monsters should win duels in POW rank (just end with the opponent LP) and to get magic and trap cards is necessary to gain in TEC rank (make the opponent miss for lack of cards) and these cards are obtained in Free Duel mode and also get cars by passwords with the cost of starchips (unfortunately trap cards and some legendary cards have the unfair price of 999.999 starchips). I wish I had made a longplay with the most powerful cards, but I had to settle only show the history of the game. Enjoy! ;) -

I remember when I saw this game on sale. i bought it and ran home to play. Back then I was so into the duel monsters part that I couldn't pay attention to the awesome soundtrack. After one day paying , I was kinda frustrated how simple the card system was compared to the TCG and specially frustrated for the lack of 3d battles until I attacked with square button I think and surprise !

I actually learned how to play this game on my own before ever hearing anything about yu-gi-oh I just used to duel my counterpart all day for cards and to learn what cards could fuse together since he used the same deck as me.

a lot of trial and error, but the basic idea is that different "types" of monsters combine into the same monster, like for example a "female" monster with a "rock" monster will make a witch that has 2100 ATK, and so on... plant and dragon also make the Jungle Dragon King and all that.

I remember I had a horrible cough as a kid, it hurt so bad that even staying at home sick from school didn't make me happier. But we had just rented this game from Hollywood Video and the music and visuals were so memorizing to me as a kid I almost forgot the pain. Granted, I didn't understand the gameplay and couldn't even beat the tutorial battle, but I still had a great time.

Good God, these rules are too weird, and there are no effect monsters, and most of these monsters starting out have less than 1000 ATK/DEF. Man, growing up with the current rules, then looking back at when Yu-Gi-Oh first came out really can confuse a modern player.

2zporygon Look up a guide. It's likely in the game somewhere in some sort of gallery, or it's supposed to be a "mysterious" mechanic. Either way, all the combinations are likely online.

When I was younger I would duel against Duel Master K (uses your same deck in free duel), and see what combinations the AI would make with my deck for ideas.

Here are some examples: Thousand Dragon: A time wizard and any weak dragon. (Doesn't always have to be a baby dragon) Summoned Skull: Two specific, weak fiends. I often use Monster Eye and Job-Change Mirror for this effect, but I think there are other combos that can fuse SS. Twin-headed Thunder Dragon: You have to fuse three monsters... two out of the three of them have to be dragons or thunder types (two dragons and one thunder or two thunder types and a single dragon, depending on how you combine them). If either one of them had at least 1600-2700 ATK power, then only two is required (Thunder and Dragon) Black Dragon Jungle King: Any weak dragon and a plant type. (Both lower than 2100 ATK) Flower Wolf: Any plant and beast type monster. (Both have to be less than 1800 ATK) Flame Cereberus: Pyro + Beast type (both have to be lower than 2100 ATK) Mystical Sand: Rock + Any humanoid female/certain fairy monsters that look like realistic women. (Both have to be less than 2100 ATK) Black Skull Dragon: Red Eyes Black Dragon + Summoned Skull Gaia the Dragon Champion: Gaia the fierce knight + Curse of Dragon Queen of the Autumn Leaves: Plant + Any humanoid female monster/fairy type Flame Swordsman: Warrior + Pyro (both must be slightly weaker than 1800 ATK, but not too weak or else you might fuse a certain pyro monster with 1100 ATK) Cyber-Saurus: Any machine + Dinosaur type. (Both have to be less than 1800 ATK) Ushi Oni: Mystic Lamp + Certain Rock monsters that look like jars.

It looks at monster types, appearance and Attack/Defense power. Example, [Dragon with -1600 Attack] + [Thunder type monster] = Thunder Dragon or [Dragon with +1600 Attack] + [Thunder type monster] = Twin Headed Thunder Dragon. Meaning any Dragon (or dragon-like) monster with more than 1600 attack that is fused with a Thunder type monster will become Twin Headed Thunder Dragon. Some are card specific, like Dragon -2400 Atk + Time Wizard = Thousand Dragon, or Gaia and Curse of Dragon, ect.

@2zporygon try fusing a base monster like warriors, beasts,spellcaster with a monster that has certain abilities aqua, fire, thunder. DON'T FUSE FIENDS, they're useless and corrupt, never works! Try a beast+plant=Flower Wolf 1800ATK I think. Another great tri-monster fusion is zombie(base)+spellcaster+plant=Pumpking

What exactly does the guardian stars do when you lay down a monster card?

Each card contains two guards stars. They are called Guardian Stars and operate as trumps. By placing your card on the field, you choose one of the two stars to be guardian for this card. If when you attack, your star has advantage over the opponent's star, your card gets +500 points of attack and defense at the time of the attack. Otherwise, the opponent gains the advantage. Many duels in this game can be decided correctly select the Guardian Stars, so it's good to learn to use them well. When you attack a monster, check the word "Guardian Star" which appears under the card. If it is yellow means that your card has an advantage over the enemy, it is red, disadvantage.

Dude.I can't for the fuck of it find a real comprehensive and complete list of fusions. I just don't know how to build myself a good deck and learn what fuses with what. There's some sites that list some of the fusions,but nearly nowhere all of them and when I try to fuse the monster types that are supposed to work,they don't. Frustrating.

I know your comment is old but there is more to fusion than just the type of monster materials, a lot of guides mistakenly speak just about types. You have to take into account the type of the monsters being summoned IF they resemble that type on their card art, there are some that might have a different type because of their card art. I used to summon bird monsters with Fire Reaper which is a zombie but since it resembles Fire you can use it to get Crimson Sunbird which you usually get by fusing a bird and a fire monster. You also need to know the different fusions that exist so that you can predict if the materials you are fusing are going to work, for example Minomushi Warrior is a rocky warrior so you need a rocky monster and a warrior to fuse it, if you use a Rock type monster that doesn't resemble a rock you might not get it. I could never for the life of me get the Sea Serpent monsters fusions right, this is one of the first times i've seen Ooguchi get used as fusion and it figures, it's a material for Sea Sepent monsters, not for aquatic monsters in general. The mechanics are very weird but they are also really fun to experiment with, don't get too frustrated with it. just experiment a lot and you'll get the hang of it (Sorry for such a long text :S)
