Put the thing in a broader perspective, as these rare gems are being shown worldwide. I'm from Brazil and every week I get astonished by what other music scenes outside my country and the Anglosphere made in the very same time we use to conventionalize that were the golden years of music in general. I couldn't imagine, for example, that Turkish music is so great, not to tell about sets of Asian and African artists that we could even imagine their existence.

It is not psychedelic cumbia. Psychedelia is not a musical genre. Some of the songs presented are chicha, a Peruvian musical genre (for example, that of Los Mirlos, Los Orientales de Paramonga, Los Invasores de Progreso, Los Beltons, Juaneco and Combo de el). They are not that of Los Cariocas, Grupo América,... Chicha is a musical genre that was formed from other genres, rock, soul, cumbia, vals criollo, huayno, pitillo, son, etc... it begins at the end from the 60s. The father of this genre is Enrique Delgado. Various sociological studies agree that chicha is more than music, it is dance, it is a cultural expression, which took shape over 20 to 25 years (late 1960s - 1989) until it had its own identity. Its musical characteristic is the use of the electric guitar in a very particular way, its expression is the use of fluorescent colors that alludes to the Andean and Amazonian culture, not to psychedelia as many mistakenly think. They resist using the term chicha for discriminatory reasons in Peru, since it is associated with the marginal, grotesque or non-Creole.

Es correcto. Musicalmente no es "chicha", es música cubana con el aporte de guitarras eléctricas. Suena como Santana, la diferencia es que Los Destellos grabaron su álbum "Los Destellos" en 1968 y Carlos Santana grabó su histórico álbum "Santana" un año después, en 1969.

The term "cumbia" applies mostly to Colombia traditional style. To name this peruvian music some prefer to use "Chicha", "Chicha roots", "peruvian psychodelic cumbia" or "peruvian cumbia". The latter motivated because of commercial/marketing reasons. It's a mix of cuban styles, peruvian folk music and psychodelic rock. Some bands do throw some salsa beats in between. That's possible because both genres Salsa and Chicha roots get cuban music as their common root.

This is andean tropical music fron Perú, not from Colombia not all tropical rhythm is colombian cumbia .Most tropical rhythms were called cumbia for commercial reasons to simplify

I just discovered this channel yesterday and I'm loving it. One thing I especially love is that the DJs don't feel the need to mess around with the music and add their own "spin" to it. They just let the music play as it was intended by the original artists. This is so fun. Thanks all! :)

I have to disagree. This is something I could’ve listened too in the background while working in the garage. Usually if I’m watching a DJ in a video I would like to see their creative spin on the music. The part I hate about KZbin is that I have to leave it open to listen.

@@nomel-pm7eh I think that what is most appreciated about a DJ is his ability to choose the most appropriate song for that precise moment on the fly, taking the temperature or mood of the audience, the idea is to propose and surprise trying to maintain the good atmosphere of the meeting, a task that is not as simple as it seems ...

I’ll agree with you a 100% with your statement but I find it very hard for me to sit and watch this. If at the moment I had the ability to just let it play and listen, that would be great. Because I’m usually watching KZbin on my phone I can’t listen and do other things.

Peru has some interesting artists. Searching for some songs way before knowing this channel, I remember about listening to a Peruvian band called Black Sugar that made songs that would be approved by James Brown for sure.

Correcto. Si fueran artistas colombianos ya le hubieran puesto bien grande "Colombia" en la imagen del vídeo. Lo cierto es que Perú como marca todavía está en desarrollo y muchos prefieren otras etiquetas. Todos los artistas de este mix son peruanos , música hecha en Perú 100%, pero aún así parece que para algunas personas eso no es suficiente para reconocer el origen de esta música.
