Is it common for a psych evaluation to be 1500.00 at the cost to the client? I understand its expensive. Just seems high for someone in a position that cannot afford it.

Since i do not know your specific injury circumstance or what State your claim is pending in, i cannot address your specific question in the context of your claim. I can say generally that in VA, and NC, on an accepted or Awarded claim, the defense must pay for all related medical treatment and evaluations where there is a referral by the authorized treating physician. That would include a psychological evaluation. It could be this is an exam that either was not authorized or perhaps your attorney wanted you to see a specific provider who was not authorized for a second opinion, and those are not paid for by the defense in your state. It also depends on what kind of evaluation. For instance, that figure sounds about right for a Neurosurgical Evaluation, which includes a lot of written testing and interpretation of testing by the neuropsychologist. It is typically used to gauge the degree of cognitive impairment you may be suffering after a brain injury.
