Psychiatrist appointment for Autism/Aspergers & ADHD medication review

Hi everyone, I went for a follow up kind of appointment as I’ve been on ADHD medication for a year and a half now and I also wanted to talk to my doctor about ASD/Autism. He’s what happened.
I talk about how Autism traits started coming up for me and becoming more noticeable since meds and what my next steps are. Also thinking about increasing my dosage and I talk about why that is.

I’m currently going through the diagnosis process myself, currently self diagnosed and I too have found amazing autistic you tubers like Stephanie Bethany, invisible I, and my personal favorite Yo Samdy Sam, highly recommend her channel if you haven’t checked her out yet. 🙂 Also totally relate to seeing the world differently than neurotypical people.

Wow. We have so much in common... I too wonder if I have autism, because of the reasons you said. There are so many labels though. I just wish there was something I could do to feel less overwhelmed by stimulus. I get very obsessed by any topic I become interested in... like when I was Vegan.

After searching for a long time, finding out I am most likely autistic and doing lots of research into it, I finally feel like I know and understand myself. It often comes alongside ADHD. My psychiatrist told me that traits of ASD often become even more apparent after ADHD is treated. This is what I’ve been searching my entire life for. This explains everything. I think if you think you may have it you should look into it. It’s changed everything for me. I’m no longer searching. At first I just thought I have a couple of traits but the more research I did the more I realised I have many. Try Aspergers on the inside’s channel if you want to look into it more.

The sensory processing sides of autism are the worst and will send me into meltdown or at least cause a lot of anxiety for me. There’s things you can do to prevent this from happening so researching into it will help you. It’s changed my life just knowing and doing this research.

I think many of us don’t realise because there is a much milder form of autism that we mistake for mental health problems.
