I couldn't enjoy this pasta. All I did the whole time was wonder why he didn't just call the police and have an investigation done when he discovered the bodies like a normal person would do. He even told other people and they didn't do anything either. "Just an entire family dead in a house from a brutal murder-suicide, we'll just mourn the loss and do nothing..." Alas, horror movie logic lol.
@danigolightly7999 жыл бұрын
Agree so much. It would have been a top-notch story had they done what every other person would do:call the fucking police. Not doing so took away a great deal of realism, sadly.
@joyfullyitdevours6 жыл бұрын
Dank Cat I disagree: Listen up buttercup. Ask yourself: what the fuck would’ve happened if he called the police? He would’ve: •been in trouble for messing with the bodies •not known what happened afterwards And the story gets taken over by this invisible authority figure we don’t understand. What would they do??? Investigate, figure out what happened, which is already perfectly clear, and then... what? Moved onto the next case? Probably. The story would be 10x more boring. As a person who writes horrific gore as a thing to do when I’m bored, it is VERY easy to get carried away. It’s hard to explain.. kind of like.. you just keep writing and writing, and then move on, completely forgetting those details. Horror movie logic can be a problem, but in this case, it’s is just a simple error, or an actual decision made by the author. After you have a horrific experience, say, like walking in to see your friend and his family with their bodies horribly disfigured, your mind becomes foggy, the more horrible the incident, the thicker the fog, and the harder it is to think rationally. “Rationally” meaning: •calling the police •noping the fuck out •telling someone And more. In conclusion: It’s hard to think after seeing four human corpses. Calling the police is not an option after being mentally scarred beyond comprehension. Aaand.. Alas, people not thinking through the reasons why an error was made. Ok, that’s all I have to say. Bye-bye. -Demi

YieldToMe Ah. I’m not very good at advice, but if you really want to enjoy writing something and it is for fun, you can take breaks and cool off if needed. It helps clear your head and you may even have more ideas for the story while you aren’t writing it. Like I said, I’m not very good at advice, because I hate my own writing, even if everyone I know says it’s good. I’m sorry, but I hope what I said could be helpful.

There are so many people in the comments where people say it's not scary, just gory or brutal or whatever. If you think this, then you aren't understanding what truly makes this so disturbing. It's not about the gore, or the eventuality of their deaths. It's that a man did this to his WIFE and CHILDREN seemingly apathetically for 2 and a half YEARS. A murderer in the night is not nearly as terrifying as this. A quick death is painless, and the victim has no control. But torturing people by leaving them with nothing, driving them to do unspeakable things, and eventually kill themselves in the most painful and difficult way? All the while the man just sat and watched this unfold. Day in, day out. It's disturbing because it delves into deepest darkness of the human mind. How easily our minds can be snapped. Guns and knifes are merciful. Driving someone to death by self imposed blunt forced head trauma? Cruel and disturbing. Everything about the human brain and mind is self preservation, it is next to impossible to do something so obviously harmful repeatedly without the mind trying to stop the action. Unless the mind has been truly BROKEN.

Love how the main character brags about how intelligent he is and then doesn't even bother ringing the police when he finds the body. Oh, and then he decides it's a good idea to just fling the corpse down the stairs and run off with the evidence. Yep, real smart. And also, the family would not have survived that long by living on just bread and water alone.
@kyloreyn26159 жыл бұрын
BevvyIsTheBest Actually that's how humans used to survive bread would supply enough energy for your body to run and water would keep you hydrated. He never specified what kind of bread it was so it could have been multigrain or whatever but yeah we can run on low power for a good while.

And totally ignoring calling the authories? What was that about?
@MadAnime9639 жыл бұрын
I agree, the whole time i was going "Why is this guy not calling the police? why didn't the PARENTS? Why didnt the old man next door?" Him taking evidence, and messing with the bodies i sort of understood, i mean, he wasn't in the right state of mind, but somebody should have contacted the police. I feel like it would have been more suspenseful if, lets say: The police were called and forced to watch these tapes, and he was called in for questioning about his friend and found out all this stuff. I'm not sure im not a writer, but really, the police would have made it more realistic at least. Maybe them trying to find out what happened to make him do this experiment.
@kolebyeger98139 жыл бұрын
I disagree, the police being called in would have been too predictable and would have ultimately taken away from the story I believe. Everyone always calls the cops, and if he would have the police would have taken over the whole situation, taking all the evidence and blocking off the house and there goes the story. If you're trying be realistic, the most the cops would have done would have been taking his statement, which would have been, he had no idea what happened he just found everything like that and then they would have no further use for him. The protagonist probably knew this and seeing as it was his best friend, he had to figure things out for himself. Idk Like that guy said I'm no writer, but in my opinion, when it comes to creepy pastas the less the plot follows a boring normal scary story, the better.
@MadAnime9639 жыл бұрын
Koleby Eger I get what your saying, and it does make sence, but I feel as though the police not being called ruined the suspension of disbelief. Lined up with the fact none of the neighbors around the house called the police in the time they didn't see anyone. Yes it would have made a more boring story, but at least mentioning that they should have been calling them would have been better.

The story was well written but there are a lot of flaws in the logic. If you guys thought this story was disturbing. I recommend you read about the Josef Frtizl case in Austria. A father that locked up his daughter in a dungeon in the basement for 24 years while torturing, starving and raping her. She gave birth to 7 children during the 24 years, 1 miscarriage and 1 child died 3 days after he was born due to a respiratory infection. Elisabeth Fritzl, the daughter that was held captive in the basement, would imagine she was on hikes, teach the kids how to read and write and would read them stories. Compare 24 years of abuse locked up in a dark cellar to 2.5 years in this story, the reactions and events were extremely overreacted, the human spirit is much stronger than you think.
@rattoppatamatryoshka10 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I agree with you to a certain degree. Though a couple of the variables would have caused different outcomes. The people in this story were stuck in a blank room with no means of entertainment, while Elisabeth Friztl had a television, a radio, and a videocassete player.It's still an unimaginably horrible situation, but even something like that can help someone hold onto their sanity. I'm pretty sure the main reason the people in this story went insane was due to sensory deprivation, though I may be wrong. From what I've read sensory deprivation can cause somebody to have anxienty, hallucinations, and depression. I've heard of people who beg to be beaten just to feel something after this type of torture. I'm no expert, and this is just speculation.
@slipknnnot10 жыл бұрын
rattoppatamatryoshka It's a very different situation if you are alone, you would go insane in solitary confinement after a few weeks. If you have people to communicate with it will yield in a much different situation. There was a case where a girl was locked in a cage inside of a bathroom for 12 years with no means to entertain herself. Eventually when she was discovered and rescued she was in deep state of depression and lost her ability to speak. There were a lot of leaps in logic in this story, the mother never interacted with the kids. All of a sudden they are all in state of deep anxiety, depression hallucinations and self harm and the mother smashes them and eats them. Did the father not have any family that would try to contact them? Did the mother not? Neighbors? Real estate agent? How was he paying for the house if they were locked in the room? the car? Did he have an insanely huge supply of bread in the house that he could stay in that room and keep feeding them bread for 2 years? Or did he go to the supermarket every week just to buy like 10 loafs of bread? A lot of stupid details that don't add up.
@rattoppatamatryoshka10 жыл бұрын
John Eydelson Yeah, I agree. The story was really illogical in a lot of places. I was just trying to add in something to consider. It's really weird how none of the neighbors called the police, especially since he shot himself. If he's taking up his time writing his studies, how did he even pay for all these things? Also, why doesn't the main character even call the police? The reactions of the wife and children were very exaggerated. The human mind doesn't break so easily. Also, if you don't mind, do you remember the name of that case you mentioned? It sounds really interesting, and I kind of want to read about it.

A real, normal person wouldn't stay in a house after finding the maggot-chewed corpse of their best friend, or search the house, or steal some tapes, he would run screaming out of the house and call the police.
@Marmonery10 жыл бұрын
Yeah and a real, normal neighbor would call the police to check the place out if the place was as unkempt as described in the story. It would lower the property value of the surrounding houses.
@Marmonery10 жыл бұрын
***** I am sorry that you took offense to this comment but your reasoning is rationalizing the problem. Saying that "there is no such thing as being normal and everyone is different" in this context is flawed. Yes, there is no such thing as "being normal" but in a situation which would warrant concern for another human being, it should be considered normal to come to that person's aid. As a community of people, people should be concerned about each other. The house has been looking terrible for years and no one has seen anyone leave the place. These facts should raise some alarm bells. Even though people deserve their privacy, there is always a case where a person cannot reach their phone to call 911 or a psychiatrist is doing live, cruel experiments on his wife and children. The neighbor should have seen the dilapidated state of the house and called the police to check if the people in there was alright. That should be considered normal for humans in this day and age. Or at least, I hope it is considered something rational and normal for humans to do.
@Jiian10 жыл бұрын
***** There exists a community of online idiots who equate generalized statements to racism, sexism, and various other 'ism's when the generalized statement really means himself and by extension other people through projection (which is something anyone capable of empathy does naturally, though it can be minimized through appropriate child-raising and schooling). I say this to address your actual point so that you don't think I'm avoiding the problem when I say: You are in that community. I suggest getting out before you become an idiot. You can't be racist against something other than another race (except for humans in which case some humans stupidly like to claim skin color as race, and I include those who call it racism in this category, as simply using the word racism reinforces the idea that some sort of race divide exists within homo sapiens sapiens, but I digress quite a bit) When I hear people whining about their sensitivities, I simultaneously feel empathy and annoyance. On the one hand I have always been different myself. I got picked on frequently. So, I am afraid I know what being different is like. What annoys me is that you are all cocked and aimed at the wrong person. Normal can be defined within a bell curve of social behavior. And within that bell curve, you will find that most people do indeed typically act in a logical fashion, even when counting the strange things religious and cultural interference can make people do. And if you must call someone out on not treating others well based on differences - we already have a word for that: bigot.

Can you imagine being stuck in a confined space for 3 whole years? This is the reason this story is so much more sad. Because in the name of scientific knowledge he did that to them, only to uncover their true animal mind, only to drive them to utter lunacy.
@Yogaji10 жыл бұрын
It was very poor scientific knowledge, if you ask me. It was more "cartoony-media science" than actual science.

Damn straight. I feel that the author couldn't really think of a valid test idea. XD One thing I don't understand: How did she eat and drink? o-0
@Yogaji10 жыл бұрын
Gamesplayswill It says he just gave them bread and water. Which is poor, but enough, I think. The increase amount of fecal matter in the room during all those years should be a bigger problem.
@GhoulieTunes10 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure they'd die of malnutrition if they were JUST fed bread? Surely they need protein and all that to keep themselves going? (I don't exactly know much about this so...)
@Yogaji10 жыл бұрын
Gamesplayswill Just going by that old story of "Prisoners being fed just breed and water." No idea if that would kill anyone. I know it would probably kill the kids though since they are still growing and need other things.

I dont know what's worse, Steven's complete lack of any regard for proper experimental procedures and ethics, the fact that he did not ponder about locking up three people apparently suffering from acute paranoid schizophrenia with no effective supervision, or that he was dumb enough that he did not consider the fact that the insalubrious conditions would force the experiment to end MUCH earlier than he projected. In any case, as a psychologist. I lol'd. Also, apparently rotting months-to-year-old corpses don't smell at all, who would've imagined!?

So, I didn't care for this one as much as some of the others. It could have worked but there were some major flaws. Big one being: why was the house boarded up with the bodies still inside? If a whole family went missing, don't you think the police or even the neighbors, would have checked things out? No one just boards up a house without checking inside. Also, the smell would have caught someone's attention

Are the sounds really necessary? They're nice the first time, yeah, but the rest of it was just annoying & disgusting. It's like, we get the point, she was banging her head & her brains & blood were spurting everywhere while her skull was breaking as she did so. You don't think we already have a bad enough imagination from listening to these stories? I'm sure we can picture it without all the sounds. e_e I'm not saying that they're bad, they're nice at first, adds the tension, but. Really. Just. Stop.

I hate the protagonist of this story. He doesn't immediately call the police upon finding 4 dead bodies, including a close friend. He steals evidence from and tampers with a crime scene. And he talks about not languishing in grief at his parents because he has "responsibilities," but apparently that doesn't include his duty to the victims of murder.

I've got 4 things to say: In creepypastas why dose nobody call the police? The banging noise is really messed up! The "experiment" is a form of torture called white room torture. If you stay in a completely white room, only getting served white food (rice) you start seeing things witch aren't really there causing the woman to kill her children and eat them and mumbling gibberish. And whoever wrote this story has a pretty fucked up mind.

It was a well written and deeply disturbing story that definitely had an impact on me that wasn't at all pleasant. Definitely not one I'll ever listen to again or recommend to anyone else. It was a deeply disturbing story, but the most disturbing parts were the descriptions of the mental and physical deterioration of the kids and the mother, things like the fighting and other signs of insanity. The gradual but persistent downward spiral was very disturbing. The subtext (never mentioned but clearly must be true) that the children were BORN explicitly for this purpose makes the story even more disturbing. There are little things, like the narrator remarking that the marriage seemed a little fast, that are more disturbing in retrospect as well (he must have been plannings this for YEARS, even before he got married). All that dread, all that disturbing stuff, was ironically almost flushed out in the stories climax for me. The cannibalism simply pushed it into caricature territory for me, and actually lessened the stories impact on me rather than making it worse. They didn't need to go there- they had already maxed out the creep factor.
