Nancy saying "I do" is both shocking and not shocking. Shocking because why would she stay with someone who clearly is uninterested in her. Not shocking because she doesn't seem to be extremely confident in herself. Maybe I'm reading this wrong but she acts like Bartise is some sort of catch when we all can clearly see that he not ready for or seriously interested in her. It saddens me that she can't see that for herself at the age of 31 or whatever.

She's not his type, he didn't seem to be impressed by her demanding he pay for her while he was in school and he only seemed to talk about their sex life, nothing else. I was on the same page as you about Raven & SK in the beginning (where they didn’t seem that into each other), but they did really change my mind later in the season. Especially when Raven was talking about how the bachelorette party was making her miss her fiancé. I was definitely rooting for them to get married & was totally surprised by SK’s ‘I do not’.

I hear ya, i didn’t buy it because their relationship just seemed really surface level. They almost never talked about any important issues (not even how hard it would be to date long distance). All their conversations seemed like a bland series of platitudes and commentary on how well they were getting along, how mature their relationship is, etc. Nothing that really took vulnerability or openness about their feelings, fears, etc. and those kinds of conversations are what long lasting relationships are built on.

that's wild, i completely disagree because i defo think raven did really love sk. in fact i thought they were the strongest, realist couple. raven seems like such a loving and sweet person tbh, she shows affection but is just a pretty mellow and more reserved with who she opens up to (of whom she chose to do it with only sk). i think it can come across as like putting walls up or not being into the other person, especially in contrast to the other "loud" couples, but it feels like she feels very comfortable, communicative, and would be a ride or die. sk on the other hand...

Agreed! I predicated they wouldn't get married but would be dating after the show and that's exactly what happened. I think they had potential for real love, not infatuation. The truth is, most relationship dynamics happen like theirs. You meet someone you find attractive and you get to know them slowly and you open up slowly and it grows and blossoms. Maybe they weren't climbing all over each other but lust does not equal love, where did that get the majority of these couples?

someone said something very interesting about SK. during the whole season he kept talking about “i just want to love raven her way” and “i’m willing to do whatever” that didn’t strike me as a red flag but he never expressed his needs at all. he just seemed to go along with everything no questions asked which for me can be shady i’ve had ppl who will just listen to everything i had to say so they figure out who they should be with me. i hope that makes sense. my view of raven did a 180, i think she’s a really nice girl!

I didn't trust him the entire show. He didn't feel genuine to me for a lot of it. The things he said felt like he was putting out bait and saying what he'd think someone would want to hear. I reserved my judgement for him, but now it seems like my feelings could be valid given what's come out about him. Also yes 100% I think Raven is very genuine and a really nice and down -to-earth person. I really like her.

I’m not sure Dr. Honda and I are watching the same show 😅 I absolutely believed SK and Raven’s relationship was very strong… I just felt like they were more reserved about their feelings in public… and the fact that they took it slow at the beginning to me signaled that they were taking it seriously and allowing the feelings to grow in their own time… I understood the motives for not getting married at this point in time though.

Strongly disagree, I think they were faking it and their relationship had likely always been a fraud. A girl on TikTok recently said SK had been dating her and pretending him and Raven weren’t together. She had a ton of receipts (pictures, screenshots, video).

It's possible they were faking it, but at this point what seems to be a fact is that SK was not really committed to a monogamous relationship with her. Did she know she was in an open relationship? I felt Raven was genuinely into SK in the pods but not in real life. And SK just wanted a "trophy"-wife/gf but without the full commitments. And later on in the show they just talked way too much about their connection and how great it was but I didn't actually see any real proof of it - so I agree with Dr Honda. To me it was more like friendly vibes and a little tepid.

To me it felt like she let her guard down by the end and got really into him. Not sure how Dr Kirk missed that, and why he conveniently didn't comment on Raven crying on her bed after SK saying no. That scene kind of contradicted everything the doc thought of her feelings up until then, she was clearly heartbroken. Seems though that SK was actually a player, put up a facade, not really taking this whole thing seriously, perhaps just in it for fame and money. Some girls on TikTok/Twitter are coming forward with screenshots and proof of SK dating them while he was supposedly dating Raven as well. What a slap in the face. Sad... I reckon more and more of these 'contestants' will apply for Love is Blind's future seasons. Eugh...

Remember how Dr. Kirk called out Mark from Season 1 before all the cheating scandals came out? He said a couple of times that there was something odd about Mark's behaviour and at that time the cheating and sleeping around news had not yet been leaked and we were all busy judging Jessica. Dr. Kirk you are brilliant! Perhaps Dr. Kirk found SK too good to be true and not genuine/authentic.

Yes!! I remember this! I was so glad that I found Dr. Honda's videos about Love Is Blind S1 because I felt so off about Mark too, but couldn't articulate why, it was just a bad gut feeling. And it felt like everyone else loved Mark, which made me doubt myself. But then I watched Dr. Honda's analysis of him and felt so reassured.

I was really hoping Raven and Sk would work out because they were the first couple who wasn't totally physical all the time. To me, their behaviour made a lot more sense than the people who kiss each other the first time they see each other. That's just not something I would do even if I felt an emotional connection with someone. I need some time to warm up to people, especially when it comes to touch and other stuff. I'd love to see a couple like them succeed on the show in the future just to show other people you don't have to do it like everyone else does. I'm not saying they shouldn't do anything, it's more like "we need a few days to adjust and get used to each other before we get physical", you know? I do understand why they didn't get married though. I also believe it was the right decision for them.

I really respect that they waited to feel out their relationship before getting physical. They also took longer then the others to fine their in person connection but the last three episodes really display a deeper connection than I believe all the other couples. Can I say something that is controversial here? When he said no, and then later gave the reasons. I was like.. oh yea that makes sense. But later it crept into my mind… Did he say no to put her in her place? I mean she was still very strong willed and was fighting him about the distance and about “sugar baby” stuff like having her bills paid by him. She still had a lot of pride left in her. If you understand what I’m saying. He did not tell her he was going to say no. It’s almost as if he shocked her into submission. I wasn't entirely surprised he said no, her pain did seem real to me though. I think SK played her tbh. And he played her good. That's why their relationship looks off. How can you ask someone you just met to follow you across country, leave their family and friends, job etc. and hold it against them when they refuse? Why are you even on a show to find a wife if you know you're going to move away in 2 months *and* you're not okay with long distance?? And the new revelations about him just prove even more he played her hard. He seemed like a quiet, nice guy, he's a "nice guy" alright. Hmm I would disagree about Raven. I am also avoidant and sometimes I come off uninterested and cold. But truth is totally opposite. I have seen Raven warming up to SK although it doesn't seem to a regular eye like much emotion. She definitely fell for him. I was disappointed with SK rejecting her. They seemed really work in their own way. if you consider Raven fear of intimacy she needs a lot of time and space. And they were going in the right direction

I'm completely surprised how Dr. Honda is super invested in his conspiracies theories. I mean at the beginning it really seemed that way, but I think the emotional connection help grow the physical connection. I think their connection was real and Raven's sadness is genuine. I think people in the show get too invested with the idea of finding a true soulmate, so they genuinely feel devasted when the other person rejects them.

Wow, I'm so surprised Dr. H got that impression. Did he skip through all the SK/Raven scenes? Seems like he got their first impressions and stayed there. This was the 1 couple with the greatest story arch and the only couple I was rooting for. They took their time and really got to know each other and she seemed to be really in love. (He did too, altho I know all the crazy stuff since the reunion). Yes she was guarded but Raven consistently connected with SK more and more. At the end, she was smitten and sooo broken hearted when he said no. She showed so much grace at him saying no, she showed real maturity and love. There was so many clues, the genuine scenes with SKs mom, she completely shut down Bartise, at the bachelorette party she was missing her fiancee and not into the strippers. This wedding really kicked my in the feels. SK showed NO signs during the experience that a no was even a possibility.

Weird! I really thought SK & Raven grew into being a great couple, Kirks opinion surprised me. I feel like Raven doesn’t open up easily and stays guarded a lot but SK took the time to get through that. Obviously they had some logistical problems so waiting & dating longer instead of jumping into marriage is a good idea. See if they can handle the distance and everything. But otherwise, after the first few days of them being together I thought their connection was clear. Just not as loud as the others, they’re more low key.

To be real, Bartiste sees Nancy beneath him because of her family and where they come from. They don’t care to keep up with the Jones. Whereas him and his family do or appear to. So, yeah. This becomes really apparent once the confrontation and arguing starts after he says no. Her family never liked him either cuz of these obvious cultural differences. I mean its not even economic, technically, cuz Nancy seems to make more money than Bartiste. But browsing Nancy’s instagram she just seems a lot more down to earth which I don’t see meshing well with Bartiste who prob only wants to hang out with the best looking people, doing the coolest things, wearing the nicest clothes. Stuff like that.

A girl went on tiktok to show her texts from SK while he was supposedly dating Raven after filming ended. Those texts were completely different from his demeanor towards Raven. He was super flirty and forward and outgoing. Idk if SK muted his personality a bit more since he was on screen. But he just doesnt seem that into her. I feel like this is validated by the fact that he appeared to be on the same page with her throughout the season when they had these deep/serious conversations but then he said NO at the altar! Citing all these things he ultimately wasn’t okay with even though he just kept agreeing with Raven and being passive in all of their conversations. I don’t appreciate that. 🤨

I sorta understand the "handshake deal" where the woman says yes so that the man says no even though both aren't invested in the relationship. However, while the woman may not look like the "bad guy", the record of them saying yes to another man only to get rejected will always exist. Why try to save face when you now have permanently put it out there that you were willing to get married to a guy only to get rejected? Don't you think any future partner would have doubts when they see that the woman had previously said yes to another guy at the altar?

True. I think it also makes people question if the person has any social awareness. Nancy explained her reasoning in some post show interviews on KZbin. If that's true I feel really bad for her. I feel bad for Raven too. Crying to the camera after saying she'd planned on saying yes. I think she really loves him.

Raven seemed self-centered to me, wanting to continue her lifestyle of personal training, spa treatments, and Pilates. She wanted a partner who would be in her life, but didn't want to make changes to develop a partnership. I perceive SK as willing to make changes to have a lasting relationship. He just didn't want to be with someone who was unwilling to compromise.

Can you watch Love is Blind Japan? The producers don't seem to force them to get to the altar. I honestly don't think the producers in the US version do either but Love is Blind Japan has many more decisions before the altar so I'd highly recommend it!

Man, Raven had some REALLY unrealistic ideas about marriage. First off SK was clear from the very beginning that he was going to be leaving to CA and on a tight budget and then Raven drops this bombshell once they get back that she's keeping her place and she expects him to pitch in to her finances like WTF?!? Did they not discuss at all in the pods what life would look like for them post "I do".. I'm sure part of it is editing but that episode made her look like such a gold digger. I am also continuously astounded by the financial disparities in almost all of these couples..like WIDE gaps... I can't believe that isn't something that came up for deeper discussion Alexa's family kinda hints about Brennan being poor and Alexa being "used to a certain lifestyle" but DAMN.

WHAAAAAAAAA OMG I love you Dr. Honda but I feel like you stopped believing in everyone on this show and it made you jaded. I think you're definitely onto something with how things become procedural and they're contracted/pressured to stay until the wedding day (all the "idk~~ I'll decide on the day~~" is way too convenient and seems coached) BUT I think most of the people on this show were trying to genuinely give it a try. Bartise is the only one from the final couples this season who gave me major fake vibes. As soon as he saw Raven he mentally & emotionally checked out of the relationship w/ Nancy & started looking for excuses to leave/create emotional distance while remaining in the relationship to stay on the show. A youtuber I like called it out as a narcissistic tactic which I didn't think of/recognize until she said it. She's a layperson basing this off of convos She's had with her own therapist, though. I watched LMFT Steph Anya's breakdown of Cole & Zanab yesterday and I feel like she really nailed it. I'd love to see your response/your take on their dynamic in a similar way to her- not because I want to control your content lol but because I feel like with this season you ended up being emotionally compromised by the weird dynamics of this stupid but addicting show and you ended up making more personal commentary than therapeutic commentary. Saying all of this with love 💗 I love your videos and commentary, they give me so much insight and help where my last couple therapists have totally fallen short, but I was surprised & a bit disappointed by your commentary on this season of LiB 🥲

I agree with almost everything you pointed out - however I advise you to look up the SK scandal if you haven't already. Disappointing but it seems like the biggest villain this season may actually be him.

I agree, his commentary seems more of a layperson's take this time rather than therapeutic. I'm fine if he stops reacting to the show if it makes him unhappy. Maybe it's burnout too. He's been putting out 3 videos daily (if you include the podcast) for the past 2 years, it's okay for him to take a break or post 3 videos weekly, he doesn't owe us content. I get that that would mean a serious pay cut though, hopefully he can find a balance.

Maybe I am crazy for thinking this, but I think the motives behind many of these people aren't true to the narrative being pushed throughout the show in each relationship. (As Dr. Kirk Honda mentioned a little bit...). Like part of me feels like Nancy KNEW Bartise was going to say no...so she said yes so that it wouldn't get him off the hook and further villanize him to the audience and in return make more people feel bad for her.. just a thought...and maybe I'm just skeptical to the intentions of people coming on these reality shows to begin with when they know they might get a bunch of publicity off of it..

Did SK come to the show to get money? Going out of state for two years to pursue a master's degree is a very stressful and involved life transition, but expecting potential finance to uproot her life, leave her friends and family, and potentially negatively affect her career and move with him is totally selfish. Raven's friends were correct in asking him why he even came on the show since he clearly cannot commit to a relationship at this time. He was very accommodating with Raven, said the right things, helped her lower her guard, and slowly got under her skin, only to say NO because she would not uproot her life. Why come to the show now and not when he is done with his career and ready to settle down?
