Something a bit different today as in this series we'll be taking a look at some classic...and some not so classic, biker movies!
Today's film is the Cult British horror, 'Psychomania' also known as 'The Death Wheelers'.
In it, we'll find some Triumphs, and BSA's along with a healthy dose of 70's Hammer Horror styled cheese!

Psychomania is in my top 10 favourite films! It's one of those 'so bad it's good' films - Nicky Henson was wonderful, the best thing in tight leather! George Sanders was the very essence of British Cool Gentleman.

I bought a vampire motorcycle. Norton Commando as the star. A stand out in my memory. Only last week I watched Silver Dream Racer after about 20 years, still enjoyed it. Great job on the channel.

I remember seeing this when it came out :) another cameo you missed was Robert Hardy playing a northern doctor - ha ha, they don't make them like that anymore!

SWEET, I love this movie. I saw it in the early 80s(I was about 10) on Sir Graves Ghastly creature double feature Detroit TV. I Could never remember the name to add it to my collection! THNX! Michigan USA

I have owned a VHS copy of this movie for over 30 years. When my friends and I were going to ride, we always watched a motorcycle movie first, with Mad Max being our favorite as we all rode classic Kawasaki 900/ 1000s. When we would watch Psychomamia, ( by the way my nickname has been Psycho for as long as I can remember), I would dig out my vintage metalflake 70s helmet and my vintage orange bubble racing goggles, because My '75 Z900b was orange metalflake! Mad Max is an excellemt motorcycle movie, with alot of history behind the bikes, as they were all Kawasaki 900/1000s.

I was probably 15, in 1987, when I first seen this movie. My mom bought it as a double feature with ''Children if the Corn''. I found it enjoyable in an early 70s way.

My favourite film ever.......great review! Also a cameo from 'Harry the driver' from Only fools & horses - the episode where the coach blows up - he's the guy Tom runs over when he bursts out the 'grave'.

Mary Larkin (Abby Holman) had a main role in Australian miniseries Against The Wind, a few years after Psychomania's release. That miniseries not only was a ratings success for Australia's Seven Network, but was sold internationally too, including the USA, Europe and the UK, and did well there.

Obvious choice for other movies are Marlon Brando in The Wild One, if you like scooters, Quadrophenia. Not too much bike action in The Great Escape, but a good movie. Easy Rider, Mad Max and Silver Dream racer also spring to mind. There are quite a few to review I recently saw the reasonably accurate (for a movie) The World's Fastest Indian about Burt Munro in his speed attempts at Bonneville. I do remember seeing Psychomania probably in the early 1980s when I was a teenager. I'll have to watch it again, thanks for reminding me :)

I really liked a small Canadian film called "One Week" [2008] about a man who after discovering he has cancer decides to buy the vintage Norton he walks by everyday and take a week to travel across Canada on an adventure. Inspiration for tough times ahead. And then make it a double feature with "The Wild Angels" [1966] Peter Fonda and Nancy Sinatra, and all sorts of great people. Notice the bike is similar to the America bike from Easy Rider.

The original was the wild ones with Brandon and Lee Marvin. The 60s biker movies had hells angels on wheels, The wild angels. The glory stompers Pray for the wildcats , with Andy Griffith and William Shatner. Ghost rider with Nicholas cage. And there's Ireland's famous .. The real Baldy trike drifter !

I've always liked this crazy film, despite once seeing an interview with Nicky Henson in which he said he thought the film was a "Sack Of Shit" Amongst the bikes are two BSA Starfire 250's, or possibly a BSA Barracuda 250 which is the same thing, and also two Triumph Trophy 250's which were really factory rebadged BSA Starfires. Great to see them being given a jolly good thrashing throughout the film, and surviving without blowing up. One of my current bikes is a 1969 BSA Starfire, but it is ridden in a rather more gentle fashion than those in this movie, but every now and then I am tempted to really let rip!!

How about THE SAVAGE SEVEN from 1968 ? Good music ( Cream, Iron Butterfly) and a classic SEVEN SAMURAI/MAGNIFICENT SEVEN type plot. My fave scene was a biker that clobbers a Karate expert from behind with with a chair while yelling "Chair"! Penny Marshal is in it too. TRIUMPH and BSA motorcycles were the ones I rode in those days before I could afford a Harley-Davidson Fat Bob.

Great film. So crap, it’s ace. Seen it a few times on tele, over the years. Managed to get it on dvd , last year, for my wife, who also loves it. Best/funniest things are the bit were he’s in the kitchen and takes a bite out of a sandwich, which just miraculously appeared. And the obvious, burly blokes, stunt men, who play the females on bikes.
