I remember when this was first released in 2018. It really helped me dive into the purpose of diagnosing and stop taking labels as verbatim. In my jobs since, I think your videos helped me see people before the diagnosis. I literally reference you when I try to explain certain things to people & patients. Always nice to watch a rerun :)

Thank you for this message! I used to watch true crime channels but I quickly realised that I feel the ick when the author is concentrating storytelling around the criminal and brutal details. I found one channel with soft, respectful delivery with a focus on the victims and watch only that.

On the preventing mass shootings part of the episode, I highly recommmend checking out Beau Of The Fith Column's (now called Belle Of The Ranch) videos on gun control, particularly the first three videos in the playlist called, 'Let's talk about guns and gun control.' He addresses a lot of the common gun control talking points and carefully dissects each one in a very measured and insightful manner. Towards the end, he basically connects what Dr. Honda touched on about the media and connects it with subjects like parenting and masculinity.

4:57 I think because our phylogeny goes as far back as the primordial sea, we have existed for the longest as organisms that require the sun to be functional, so it stands to reason that when the sun goes down we feel sleepy

The conversation about mass shootings brings to mind recent terrorist/terrorist-like events (assassination of Brian Thompson, New Orleans NYE attack, etc). Disillusioned military-aged males who become increasingly anti-social and in the context of our current media environment crave notoriety. It is interesting that the minority you talked about in terms of people looking up to the perpetrators can vary in size depending on the intended message of the attack (eg the minority looking up to Luigi Mangione is not as small as the minority that would look up to the Parkland shooter).
