To me "the most dangerous thing is to love" doesn't mean that it is dangerous to love because you might lose it but because of what you might do for love. Achilles died because of his love for Patroclus.

This was my thought as well, and it lines up with what Camus was talking about. That which we live for is that which we die for

i think its both and even more I have the feeling that this line is "vague" on purpose I mean, it can be dangerous because you can get hurt, because you can do dangerous things for the one you love, because your love can be a forbidden love etc. There's many ways how we can perceive the act of loving as a dangerous thing and that's why this line is so iconic to me.

it'a both actually, yes he talks about Achilles but also he's talking of the singer's personal life after loosing his wife.

I absolutely love this song’s subtle details. Like how when the two voices are arguing for achilles’ attention at the end one says “jump off the roof” (unalive yourself) and the other says “get off the roof” (walk down the steps and go back to “normal life”) It sort of shows the duality of man. Also when they sing “achilles come down” he could come down in two ways, jump off or walk down the stairs.

when I first heard the song, the line that really got me was "you crave the applause, yet hate the atenttion" and I love the fact that it got through someone else

Every song in their repertoire is worthy of analysis. Dave, their lead singer and writer, has had an incredible life and writes from a place of experience. He is incredibly talented at putting the rawest human emotions into song while still making them feel hopeful. The album this comes from, Go Father in Lightness, is about his journey of love, loss, and healing. Their newest album, angel in real-time, is all about him dealing with the death of his father and discovering that he was not necessarily the person he thought he was. Highly recommend “forbearance”, “the man himself” or my personal favorite, “Still Unbeaten Life”.

It's a paralel between Achiles's despair over the death of his lover Patroclus and the singer's suicide attempt after his ex wife's death

The back and forth between the two voices is so cool to me. And the fact that the song keeps going after the "good" voice triumphs is a metaphor (at least to me) that even after you conquer an suicidal episode, the thoughts can still remain. The battle is not just a one and done, it is truly a battle that you have to fight more than once and that it won't be easy, but it will be worth it. That's my take, at least ❤

In the song ,Patroclus ,Achilleses lover sings to him to get off the roof. After Patroclus died ,Achilles fell into deep depression. It's not 100% ,but some say it's Apollo that tells Achilles to just give up and unalive himself in the song. ("How the most dangerous thing is to love" ,after finding Patroclus dead ,Achilles starts massacreing anyone on sight, that's why Apollo tells him to just die ,instead of continueing his meaningless existence)

The words in between the English parts are French and they go somewhat like this: On the other hand, I see many people die because they judge that life is not worth living. I see others paradoxically getting killed for the ideas or illusions that give them a reason for living (what is called a reason for living is also an excellent reason for dying). ... Of an apartment-building manager who had killed himself I was told that he had lost his daughter five years before, that he had changed greatly since, and that that experience had "undermined" him. … What sets off the crisis is almost always unverifiable. Newspapers often speak of "personal sorrows" or of "incurable illness." These explanations are plausible. But one would have to know whether a friend of the desperate man had not that very day addressed him indifferently. … ...the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity. … ...either yes or no. This would be too easy. But allowance must be made for those who, without concluding, continue questioning. Here I am only slightly indulging in irony: this is the majority. I notice also that those who answer "no" act as if they thought "yes." As a matter of fact, if I accept the Nietzschean criterion, they think "yes" in one way or another.

I still remember the first time I realized what exactly this song is about, and I remember crying because it puts into perspective something that I have been experiencing nearly my whole life into something others can understand! I'm happy to say that these days the back and forth between the little brain goblin and my self preservation leaves the positives louder than the negatives🥰

It's important to have an understanding of the French Spoken word part of this song. These words are a direct exert from the philosophical essay The myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus who was a French author and philosopher belonging to the movement of absurdism. “Je vois que beaucoup de gens meurent parcequ’ils estiment que la vie ne vaut pas la peine d’être vécue et j’en vois d’autres qui se font paradoxalement tuer, pour les idées, les illusions qui leurs donnent une raison de vivre. Ce qui peut être une raison de vivre est en même temps une excellente raison de mourir. » “I see that many people die because they deem that life is not worth living and I see others that, paradoxically, get themselves killed for the ideas, the illusions that gives them a reason to live. What can be a reason to live is at the same time an excellent reason to die.” “D’un gérant d’immeuble qui s’était tué on disait qu’il avait perdu sa fille depuis Cinq ans, qu’il avait beaucoup changé et que cette histoire l’avait « miné ».” “About a building manager that killed himself, people said that he had lost his daughter five years ago, that he had changed a lot and that this event “undermined” him.” “Des souvenirs d’une patrie perdue, de l’espoir d’une terre promise, ce divorce entre l’homme de sa vie… ” “Memories of a lost homeland, hope of a promised land, this divorce between a man and his life…”
