"I wrote this song called "Cry Baby" because some people say that I'm too emotional when I sing, I'm sensitive to crisis in the world like sex trafficking, child cancer, etc. And, I can't hide my feelings and tend to cry to much. This song is my response, I guess my heart is too big for my body.

This is a song that always made me tear up just because of how much I can relate to it.. Like..I am VERY sensitive and way too empathetic...I cry easily and it's like the line she sings:"You try to explain But before you can start Those cry baby tears Come out of the dark" This is so true. Like I try to justify myself but then for some reason tears appear in my eyes and noone takes me seriously anymore and just calls me a crybaby.

TW: kinda disturbing The reason Melanie has a bunny in all of their videos, is because she had to choose between a dog or a bunny, I’m pretty sure she gave the bunny to her friend but she picked the dog. And one day she found the bunnies head decapitated in a back yard.. (the next one is not disturbing) she dyed her hair to look like Cruella de Vil! And nit all her music is trauma that happening to her, it’s what happened to CryBaby

lil spoiler: the last track of the deluxe songs on Portals (third and last album out yet) is called Milk of the Siren and it ends with a nod to this song, the very first one of her first album. Closing the cycle and story within these three albums, besides Portals being a cycle in itself (Death-Womb)

Ohh I just wanted to let you know the meaning behind the bunnies. So basically when she was younger her parents got 2 pet's a dog and a Bunny but she could only keep one and she chose the dog and decided to give the bunny to her friend but sadly the next morning she found it decapitated in her friend's yard so ig it's like a trauma she has bc she was so attached to it hope it helps. 😊

Hello again i just wanted say i feel myself in this song because when i was younger even now i cannot handle when someone are like talking in a way to me and i hate people yelling because its makes me feel bad that i can't handle it or i feel bad that i couldn't help calm it down and it's makes me cry and my brother who has autism high functioning may i add and he hates it with a burning passion when people cry so when i cry in front of him he either throw stuff at me or hit me which makes me cry more and scared of crying in front of him side note i don't hate him i love him he can't help it but it's emotionally hurts me

I relate to this song so much, before I got adopted my mom was an alcoholic and she would never give me attention, or take care of me, so I never developed emotionally and cry over everything, or even nothing, even in foster care I was put with another set of abusive people, but now that I have a parent to recognises the issue she loves that I have Mel to listen to to relate to and let out my emotions! But unfortunately my social workers aren’t doing much to actually help with my emotions so it’s a struggle trying to get any help at all

Hello again 1. There will be a lot of metaphors in her lyrics , sometimes the most unexpected ones. 2. Her two-tone hair coloring has been going on since she was 16. Then she dyed her hair for the first time, inspired by the image of Cruella de Vil (she did this as a protest, since her mother did not allow her to dye her hair). 3. There will be a lot of small details that are rarely paid attention to, but these details will still play their role in story. For example, those animal toys that hang over her bed in the video. Thank you for showing interest in this artist and starting to sort out the topics and problems that she talks about.

The reason there is so many bunny’s is because one day she had to pick between a dog and a bunny so she gave the bunny to her friend who also had a bunny so she could have the the dog but on day they left the bunny’s a lone for 4 hours and they found the friends bunny in a different yard and Mel’s bunny’s head in the yard😢

Do you have a schedule of some sort of when you'll post melanie martinez reactions, or do you just post whenever you can? Asking cause sometimes youtube be slacking in showing videos of accs i subscribed so i just want to make sure i dont miss anything when it does come out. I don't know when you're recording to Dollhouse but I thought I'd mention this: Dollhouse is filmed before she got a studio/label budget if I'm not mistaken, she used like fundings she and her friends gathered so the cinematography is simpler, and maybe not as fancy-film like her other videos that alrdy has a cohesive aesthetic/vibe like the editing and filters but it still tell a great story cause lets face it, budget aint stopping mel from killing it. Some reaction channels get confused with how the video is significantly simpler esp following a chronological story order, so I wanna give a heads up!

I love your videos and idk if you noticed but the nurse that tells crybabys mom that she's a girl, she has the same eyes as crybaby and Angelita in k-12.. and my husband and I were talking, and we may be wrong, but we think that in the video she portrays two different characters. Because of the words in the bridge of the song and the fact that one child's room is flooded by the end and the other room isn't and we believe that you noticed it when you mentioned the difference in her hair ❤
