Beautiful reaction. I found Ren after spending a year in bed after my husband of 21 years passed over. Rens music and story inspired me to live again. Now I'm up with the birds painting and sculpting again and have 23 chapters in on a novel I didn't know was in me. Thank you.

Every time I hear this I bawl my eyes out. Not tears of sadness. Tears of relief. It's not that my life experience mirrors all that is Ren's, but there are parts of the dance that we share. Enough to find solice with a soul who dares to be bold. Expressing what we fear we cannot. Without exaggeration, This will make change in this world. Too powerful to suppress and it's done. The Universe will look after the rest. Love me, love we, hi Ren

The funny part is (no diss toward you) is that he went through all of this because of health professionals, psychologists etc. He was mistreated for 8 years or so, and physically and mentally got worse. Due to this mistreatment, not only did he get worse, but his record label Sony dropped him after health professionals diagnosed him with Schizophrenia. Turns out almost a decade later, he did not have mental issues, he had Lyme Disease and he is currently being treated for it. He's been through hell. From transplants to hallucinations.
@jeffstumpf9129
@jeffstumpf9129 Жыл бұрын
It’s understandable that the doctors missed Ren’s diagnosis. Lymn’s Disease was still new and not yet understood. It's physiological, not psychological. The pig-masked butcher represents how Ren felt wronged by Medicine. What I find interesting is how psychology borrows a lot of long-standing religious understandings to describe itself.

As a therapist, I am deeply disappointed with the mental health paradigm in our medical, "industry. I don't blame the specific doctors and therapists, I blame the training, the dogmatic approach to treatment of labeling and treating symptoms only and the big money groups. We all know who they are. This, it is up to each one of us to truly take a look at our work. Have we really helped a person? I don't find many of my clients are thrilled with, "reducing depression symptoms by 50% within six months as evidenced by..." No, as humans they want connection, belonging, attachment and meaning. And it is rare that I see these things even addressed. More to the point, though, they missed the diagnosis BECAUSE they think only in diagnoses. Diagnoses are a trap. It sabotages our ability to see each individual as a whole person. Metabolic health, brain health, gut health, all are a part of the entire package. Yet we see some energy level changes or psychosis and immediately throw a bipolar or schizophrenia label on them and now you are stuck. Most practitioners are completely incapable of shedding that paradigm and exploring the infinite factors at play. My cynical self says it is because we want to portray ourselves as a professional, that we know stuff. That we are experts and through this we help people. To any young or old professionals out there:. Every individual who walks through your door is the expert. You have knowledge, you have experience, but you are not the expert of that person. They are. Your job is to help them grasp it. Mental health isn't just some random thing that appears out of the ether. It isn't just because our brain was born that way. There are infinite factors at play and your job is to help them become self empowered, to know they have power within themselves. Telling them they are sick with a disease and that they now have to take pills for the rest of their life, that there is nothing they can do...even just texting them, "coping skills," isn't enough. They need a deeper existence. Walk with them, be a supporting partner, help them find a starting point. That's what helps. If you choose to continue to see human beings as a cluster of symptoms, then you may well be a destructor, not a healer.

@@Mhantrax Absolutely and the misdiagnosis of trauma response or other disorders instead of Lyme Disease caused him permanent brain damage and significant chronic nervous system issues that gave him MCAS and causing him chronic pain. This video is entirely about his feelings between his illness and the mental issues it caused in him. The struggle itself forcing issues on his ability to just exist. He is in much better shape now than he was 6 years ago, but he has a long way to go. He is currently in Calgary, Canada, receiving treatment for his conditions. Please give him much love and find all of his amazing music. Lol you can't possibly understand the mental state of a teenage boy. Every single thing you do is a status symbol and taking the risk of sharing a song so completely different than what they're used to is a risk for them. Ren is a grown man singing about grown man stuff your son doesn't have the life experience to appreciate that yet. Another YT reactor said "Ren is a Wormhole, I need to deep dive this guy" and that's exactly it - I, like thousands of his Community (for that is what his presence has created amongst his followers), see him with one performance and automatically we feel compelled to deep dive and watch everything he has produced- and each piece is so unique, a surprise, covering a multitude of genres brilliantly. He's a lyrical and performance genius (his solo piano playing is exquisite) who truly captivates his audience and draws them into his world, yet so authentic and humble. His Reach is two- pronged I feel: those who simply enjoy and appreciate his musical and performance genius; and those who resonate with parts of his story as he articulates our own pain and struggles, our own battles of Darkness and Light. Imo, he's a celestial being, an Earth Angel, a born Warrior of Light and is now stepping into his Power and breathing life and blood into his wings to shine his Light of hope, inspiration and validation through the myriad of gifts and talents he has, and with this piece in particular has created a Portal for so many others now to feel safer to step into and express and expose themselves, their perfections and imperfections, their mental health struggles and demons that is normally so stigmatised and deeply misunderstood by those who've not experienced it. I'm so glad for him this deeply personal, vulnerable masterpiece is now giving him the reach and spotlight he deserves - he's worked so hard for it -"Renlentessly" - for so long whilst still battling ill health. He really will continue to rise in the music that he leaves behind, I have no doubt

The difference between the first "oo" "oo" "oo" section and the end version? He was super tense and tight in the first, you saw the tension in his neck and posture, subconsciously, but in the second version? Loose and free flowing, you FEEL the second version... AND he ends it unresolved, last downbeat was a Full Rest, rather than minor or major cord... so you felt it and YOU filled in the last note and "oo" yourself... it prepped you for his silique... Genius! The more I watch this the more things I see that make it GREAT! Things like Major chords when Evil is speaking, giving "answers" not to be questioned... Like the discordant chords he plays when going back to the "good" voice, it shows he's not certain, but WANTS to believe. Great Reaction. Like most, you really got into it, because it got into you. check out: Ren - The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full) it's very sad, but realistic actually. Expect a solid "Noooo!" at the end, you've been warned. And the whole Jimmy Hendrix reference, died of vomiting while drunk on barbiturates... dark. Basically, his dark voice was saying he wanted to be famous for self-destruction! Ouch.

@@ReactionTherapyOfficial After a decade of struggling with my dark side, of hating that part of me, i finally realized what that part of me was, scared and alone, and just trying to hold me together. I used to have a history with being extremely skilled at manipulating people, just so I could have some semblance of control in my life, and it caused me to lose people, it was the only self defense mechanism I had ever developed. I managed to cut that defense out of me, and never found anything to put in it's place. Then a part of me started screaming and clawing at the dark and the light as years went on, with so much failure and loss in my life, every time I tried to think of doing something positive, it would come screaming out of the dark with doubt, I had hated that part of me for so long, and then one day through introspective, it clicked in me, that part of me wasn't some evil, some darkness, trying to keep my down, it was trying to protect me, in the only ways it thought it could, by making sure I had nothing to lose.... That entire time, that decade, I had a deep depression, worsened and branching from other experiences. When I realized what that part of me was, and I apologized to myself, for leaving that part of me in the dark, with nothing to help defend myself mentally or emotionally anymore. A release happened, and most of my depression is gone now, there are still some bits and pieces from other experiences in my life that I must work through, but that part of me that was my "dark self" my "negative self" calmed, it's been months now, and it doesn't scream at me anymore, it doesn't thrash and claw at the dark, instead of being a negative voice in my head, it's now a force of positive reassurance. I used to so vehemently hate that part of myself, I don't anymore, and I feel more whole than I have in as long as I can remember.

You said the other side is gone. You missed the line "Ferocious persistent, Immortal like you, We're a coin of two different sides" punctuated with a grimacing acceptance. This duality IS the healthy life process! It only became "unhealthy" when BOTH SIDES escalated to seek to annihilate each other. BOTH SIDES are children wanting to over simplify and monopolize the navigation with no introspection or regulation. The two sides MIRROR EACH OTHER and compliment by working in two different bands of the cognitive spectrum. It's system engineering 101. It's a constant examination of all possible sides to weigh the truths and fallacies of the environment, and maintain a position on the watershed, the high ground, to have the power of self determination and will, and to defend functionality, while keeping channels of discovery open and clear. The other side isn't "destruction". That is the hyperbole of defending that function's self regulating half of the rational cycles. Ren's compositions are extremely dense and efficient. Every word & phrase is as critical to receiving the message as every ingredient of nutrition or medication or exercise. It's ALL therapy.

REN is on KZbin check out his channel. Ren was misdiagnosed at 17 with bipolar he was placed in an institution and given treatment & drugs that damaged brain & put him into a state of psychosis. After 7 years he was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme's disease. Unfortunately the damage to his brain is permanent. He lives everyday with Lyme's disease as well as psychosis. He is a remarkable young man. He is truly inspirational.

Ren went through several years of misdiagnosed illness, with diagnosis such as chronic fatigue, when what he really had was Lyme disease which has left him with some crippling issues, including psychosis ... he talks about auditory and visual hallucinations in one of the comments on the original video. He's currently being treated to help him cope.

I do appreciate your reaction and perspective; however, I cannot stand when people compare Ren to NF; it’s like comparing apples to hubcaps. Ren is light years ahead of NF and comes across as genuine and relatable; NF is just another “broken” millennial who boo-hoos because his daddy didn’t give him enough attention. Ren has been through some serious shit, and yet he’s not seeking pity; he’s just telling his story through music; and he’s friggin talented to boot…you can’t help but love this guy!

At the end, we can see the flashing lights associated with the Shadow element of Ren's psyche in full play, which indicates, to me, that Ren hasn't moved away from the shadow at the end of the song...he's folded it back into himself. As the shadow states, it is the part that creates chaos, but chaos is necessary in all healthy systems. Sterility and order is also dysfunctional when brought to extremes. What he then confirms at the end during the monologue is that the real learning process, that which differentiates the victim and student, is that of realizing that there is no 'good' or 'bad' elements of the self. There are merely the skillfully handled and the unskillfully handled...the dance is either smooth as we oscillate between light and dark, or it is stilted and jagged. There is no 'getting rid' of the dark. Jung knew this, and people who've taken the time to examine the mystical borders that separate the conscious from the subconscious know this as well. At the end of the day, most of our programming isn't from us, but from the billions of years of evolution that produced us, and we can only use our conscious mind to examine and learn the tendencies of the unconscious from critical observation of our own behavior. We cannot look directly into the black box. The more we understand about those impulses that are rooted in the necessarily hidden aspects of self, the more we can integrate and nudge that impulses into being in accord with our conscious desires and impulses, rather than post-rationalizing our conscious desires to accord with our unconscious. For me, the true meaning of Hi Ren comes down to a simple recognition that one cannot run from, or conquer one's demons. One cannot medicate them away, or use positivity to defeat them. One must get to know them the way they would friends, and recognize that some of these demons are older than we are, written in lines of genetic code older than our species, and that, whatever chaos they cause in our lives today, we would not exist without them. We would not have made it this far without their influence. So, we embrace them and fold them back into ourselves, understanding that any social ideologies that cannot tolerate them are the aspects of reality which are sick (a statement borne out by how many people who 'uphold' those ideologies are later learned to be monstrously in contravention of them). Once we have brought them back into us, we can reach the true potential of being able to access the fundamental power of chaos (and chaos is inevitable...physics tells us quite clearly that chaos wins in the end...entropy tends to increase), of creativity, of change, while being able to subject the fruits of chaos to the organizing principle of egoic consciousness. It is this middle path, as referenced in Buddhism, where both the extreme hedonism of the id, and the extreme asceticism of the super-ego (to use some somewhat outdated terms), are unified and tempered by each other's influence into a functioning ego.

Nice, incisive reaction and review. I think Ren's piece would have been better without the little sermon/philosophical treatise after he put down the guitar. That made it seem like the sermon at the end was the heart of everything, and the rap bit was really just a prelude to get our attention. I'm 69, have had ECT's, been hospitalized for mental health/depression - and I still find it hard to say - addiction issues, and I think this was terrific, and I believe quite authentic - but it wasn't life-altering [maybe it was for Ren and for some folks if the dynamics of the two sides seems new] - there are many artists who are so gifted - Diana Ankudinova and Dimash, et. al. - but they aren't from a different planet or reality - I'm thankful they share. Being momentarily mesmerized is fun, but it doesn't last. And apart from Ren vocalizing the internal dialogue, George Jones singing "He stopped loving her today" or Johnny Cash making the 9inNails "Hurt" his own, Or Billie Eilish at 15, singing "idontwannabeyouanymore" all have probably as much pathos as all the words that Ren rapped - in someways his guitar playing while rapping and as prelude and outro was as impressive as his words. Since I get tongue twisted, it does amaze me how rappers can speak so quickly without losing themselves or their words. P.S. or think of IZ (from Hawaii) singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and the music video of the tribute to him - he has a story, too.

1:54pm hi sir I’m looking for a reaction to these videos I play with a heavy heart but helps me get thru tough times. A. Paul Ortega - The Trail Song Big River Cree - Tribute to Lester John Trudel - I Went So Willingly The trail song is what my dad wanted to be played at his funeral. Tribute to Lester was the song I played at my bigger brother’s funeral. I went so willingly is a song that I never knew existed and knew of the singer but never listen to any of his music. But when my mate committed suicide I have a hard time believing that it’s not my fault like I always hear. When I found this song it was what I was totally feeling and remind you I don’t know why I looked up the artist or out of all his albums I chose this one and fast forwarded basically to this song without ever listening to him or any of his music. Being Native American I knew of John Trudel and his activism for Native Americans and our way of life. Will Dempsey- Beat You There is a song I recently found that hit my feelers and helps to get me through this difficult journey in life that nobody is promised tomorrow. So I end with this lil note to self thought that I am not ready to give up and join my ancestors just yet because my story has changed yes but not over. As my dad always said… end of story!!! And what I always say… you know what they say….. Hoyt!!!

I appreciate you taking the time to watch and react sir. There are some points I differ you with. Referring to the reasoned of Ren's brain as real and the other, as maybe not, isn't the message I'm hearing in this this song. As Jung discussed, this is a kind of shadow work. To deny the "darker" sides of us is a potential down fall. To say we should not listen to the dark side leads to repression. In some cases these dark emotions are how we are aware of things like being wronged, leading to anger or depression. That dark side can be a powerful motivator for good, not just an enemy of our psyches. We should neither give them too much power or deny their existence. We have to come to terms with those feelings and thoughts and Ren does that in this song. "And you know how I know I will prosper? Because I stand here beside you today." Though art is subjective to me this is Ren saying, "I stand here with you "dark" Ren." He's not denying the dark side he's come to terms with it and through that he becomes triumphant over it.

Hello, Ren is a true poet and the man! I also suffer from chronic pain and mental health. I would be honored if you will read my poem about pain and let me know what you think? Living with pain Living with pain, is like living in shame. To live in pain, makes you feel like in life, there will be no gain. No forward gear just neutral and fear. Fear that it will not end, fear that things are not just around the bend. Life just stands still. Making me feel like i'll never be free of this ill. It seems that everyone is leaping past me. Sometimes by leaps of two and three. While I lay here in my cot. My mind goes into thought. Thoughts like, will my life move on!? Will this pain ever be gone!? But I suppose I need to have hope. For without it, I cannot cope. Cope with the fact that for now, life does stand still. But I guess it is not my fault that I am ill. I can only hope that some day. This awful pain will go away. I use this hope take me through the day. So I can then get to the night when I can pray. Pray this pain will soon be gone, so I can change gear and start to move on. I will leave you with my prayers of many layers. Please god, help me to not feel so bad. I have three kids who really need their dad. Please god give me back my life. So I can have a dance with my beautiful wife. Please god I am way too young in years. So see my tears, and take away all my pain and fears. For if you help me be free. I will repay you by being an outstanding me. Amen Please give me any feedback. (Positive or negative) As I want to better my self through my poetry.
