This song encapsulates the addictive process, at least for me, better than any song I’ve ever heard. This song dropped when I first started to get sober and recover. I’ll have a year on Dec. 13th. Thank you $B$. I still listen to this to keep me humble bc it takes me back. ODAAT.

I think 5 Grand at 8 to 1 is a reference to The Sopranos when Ralph Cifaretto hit big on his first horse race. It was the beginning of his demise & ultimately his death. I could be wrong tho.

Great vid!! You should really listen to Scrims solo album he released back in 2020. He talks about his personal life in depth such as depression, addiction, soberness, family and more. He also has several songs that he would like for us to figure out if he is speaking about drugs or an ex (his words from an insta live before release the album). This album goes under the radar big time. The best songs in my opinion are Naloxone, Feel It Too, Tell Me When I’m Good Enough, and my favorite is Side Effects

I also like to think the song title is a reference to The Sopranos when Ralphie yells that line lmao. It's up for interpretation for sure though

That song, and especially the album when they came out in 2021, I remember my ex-girlfriend was taking a shower and I was listening to this album for the first time all happy, I thought my life had gotten better but after we broke up my days became black because I only had her in my life. Now I have a new job, I'm feeling better and I'm going to therapy.

I gotta get it off my chest and journals not for me. “I just want them to treat me like they used to” for me applies to my gf. I just want her to be with me like before we had our daughter( she’ll be 3 on Thursday) and I know that people evolve and life changes especially with kids. But mixed messages and my selfishness just leave me wanting more for us. I love her and my daughter so much I don’t want to lose it over myself. They’re the only thing keeping me going at this point 😞 thank you for the advise and words of comfort as always Tom. Great video

do you think the twelve step is viable for all, because in getting through my own addiction and tbh I really felt that a religious focus in recovery isolated individuals and I was lucky enough to have very supportive parents that took me in while figuring it all out, but i feel the 12 step is so steeped in religion that it makes it difficult for atheists or even people who aren't Christian to get support and i have a close friend who i was trying to help get clean, relapse time and time again while in outpatient aa due to the disconnect with the forced religious readings, along with the hard clutch of addiction. and in my own case aa did not feel helpful as i could not relate. rather than in my own mind i was able to be clean because i realized i was effing up after treating people terribly and lying and stealing from people close to me, and when i realized i was addicted. and as a curve ball i had a tbi skateboarding which changed how i view things having the fear of death thoroughly in me following this classic feeling of invincibility to driving fast and dumb and to drugs and to act crazy in highschool.
