Jocelyn Flores was his friend that ended up killing herself, he felt bad because he couldn't do anything about it. He also mentions in the song "Bout my uncle playing with a slip knot" and the PTSD he suffers from, it's related to when he saw his uncle had hanged himself when he was younger. He also felt responsible for her death because there was an altercation where he had money stolen from him and it was her and another girl so he kicked them both out and was going to send them back to there home towns. she was already suffering with depression before that. she was left alone for the rest of the night and by the time she was found she was dead for hours with no one checking on her. she was only 17 I believe. he has a follow up song on skins or bvf talking about it again i think

His whole album 17 is like this and goes down as one of the best albums ever created. Jocelyn Flores was girl who was obsessed with suicide at a young age. X reached out to her to help her and flew her out for a photoshoot for one of his new merch designs, while living in the hotel she got in to an argument with another girl and then killed herself in the hotel bathroom while X was out for the day… X never realised she did this until the next morning when he couldn’t get in to the bathroom and had to get the hotel security to help him in

I’m a big fan of juice and I think it’s difficult to compare the two, x definitely went through some extremely depressing things like Jocelyn Flores killing herself and his uncle too, where as juice talks about him slowly dying from drugs and his mind being consumed by demons and heartbreak. I like how you're explaining PTSD, but people don't recognize that at times, it isn't just a song, and small trauma, it's everything at once I feel like when you're getting pulled in so many directions to the point where you're falling inward, like a guilty feeling, ppl react explosively, and that ruined his relationships with people who could of potentially helped him.

i love how u actually try to understand and listen to the lyrics, many reaction channels completely ignore whats being said and only listen to the melody. i also like how open you are to this kind of music which talks about feelings like these. imagine a song with lyrics like this in the 70s or 80s, everyone would think it was insane. but times have changed and talking about this kind of stuff is becoming more and more accepted, and i like how u can respect it too it seems like. im so high right now and these were just the thoughts that came to my head. i subbed

Whilst at a hotel with another girl x's money went missing (about 5k or more)[this is all from my memory reading about it 2 years or more ago]. X thought Jocelyn had stolen it, got mad and left. X came from a very dark place as he grew up with a lot of violence and drugs surrounding him. He had a lot of traumatic experiences which u could feel in his music. He kind of started his career with more „hardcore“/aggressive music which slowly started turning into sad music overall. In his last 1-2years of his life (he sadly past away in July of 2018 with only 21 years old) he tried to become a better person and encourage anybody to get out of depression and seek help if they needed it. He came to realise how much power he has with his influence so he tried to use it for the better and help people. He was a very interesting persona especially because of his diversity in music. A lot of other famous artists called him a genius for his lyrics and for the outstanding uniqueness of every single one of his songs. I would recommend to listen to a few of his older songs maybe: Skin, I talked to the devil in miami and he said everything would be fine, train food these are some masterpieces.

You did a good job piecing together the story for someone who didn't know anything about it, i won't bother explaining parts you were unaware about as i see many comments that have already let you know. X's music is very versatile and whilst many of his songs are similar to this, just to name a few "snow" "never" "idontwannadothisanymore" and pretty much anything off the '17' album, he also explores many other genres and topics in his songs. It would be great to see more reactions from you and personally i think ''let's pretend we're numb" would be a great one for you to listen to!

Heres a TLDR, to the best of my memory: Jocelyn Flores was one of two girls X flew out to model for his clothing brand. something happened between these three, and X decided to fly them back home. While the girls waited to be flown home, X went to get something to eat. Sometime between X leaving and coming back is when she killed herself in the hotel bathroom. X dedicated both this song and one more (don't remember the title) to her. the voice over the beat was from Shiloh Dynasty, who does a lot of similar types of short melodies. she and X have a couple songs, this one being the biggest

I dont know if you know it know yet, Jocelyn Flores was a girl he met and who he basically didnt even know that good, she came from lower circumstances and already had a few suicide attempts (X didnt knew that). He offered her a modelcontract when they met in a hotel. But at the same time someone stole a decent amount of money (it wasnt sure who took it at that time), but she was one of the suspects, so X send her to another hotel in town (she lived across the USA). That was the place where she killed herself, she died at the age of 16. X felt guilty for her death ever since, even if he didnt even know about her depression and her former attempts. He wrote that song about his feelings of guilt, sadness, numbness and helplessness The person who he saw who hung himself was his uncle, who was kind of a fatherfigure after his "real" dad went to jail. This song is typical for his later mid/later music, where he developed from a very angry and missunderstood kid (what you can hear on his music, like on "LOOK AT ME" which was his breakthrough) to someone who switched all that anger into himself, into numbness and pain, and sometimes, hopelessness. Very good examples for this phase is "I met the devil in Miami". At his latest, he tried to change it more to not that depressed music (moonlight), cause as he said in "Hope" he was trying to find a way for a better life and be an good example for his fans, to show that it can get better, what makes his sudden death even more sad and cruel. I hope I was able to help and sorry for my english

The thing that really hits me about this song is that summer of 2018 I had a childhood friend commit suicide which really affected me and still does to this day, the feelings of which I get reminded of every time I hear this song. I do like to revisit this song and album occasionally cause it reminds me of those times and helps me cope and realize how far I came, and how real those times were. X really had such a gift with how raw and authentic his lyrics were, I know he helped countless struggling people find comfort and belonging with his art. Gone too soon, RIP King 👑

Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy (January 23, 1998 - June 18, 2018), known professionally as XXXTentacion (often stylized as XXXTENTACION) and commonly referred to as simply X,[c] was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter.[8] Though a controversial figure due to his widely publicized legal troubles, XXXTentacion gained a cult following among his young fanbase during his short career with his depression and alienation-themed music. Critics and fans often credit him for his musical versatility, with his music exploring emo, drill, trap, lo-fi, indie rock, nu metal, hip hop, R&B, and punk rock. He is considered to be a leading figure in the emo-rap and SoundCloud rap genres which garnered mainstream attention during the mid-late 2010s.[9] Born in Plantation, Florida, XXXTentacion spent most of his childhood in Lauderhill. He began writing music after being released from a juvenile detention center and soon started his music career on SoundCloud in 2013, employing styles and techniques that were unconventional in rap music such as distortion and heavy guitar-backed instrumentals, drawing inspiration from third-wave emo and grunge. In 2014, he formed the underground collective Members Only and alongside other members of the collective soon became a popular figure in SoundCloud rap, a trap music scene that takes elements of lo-fi music and harsh 808s.[10] XXXTentacion gained mainstream attention with the single "Look at Me". His debut album 17 (2017) is certified double-platinum in the US and reached number two on the Billboard 200. His second album ? (2018) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and is certified triple-platinum in the US. Its lead single, "Sad!", reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100,[11] and had amassed more than 1.3 billion views on KZbin and 1.7 billion streams on Spotify by November 2021, as well as being certified Diamond by the RIAA in August 2021.[12][13][14][15] He is also the bestselling emo rapper of all time.[16] On June 18, 2018, XXXTentacion was murdered at the age of 20 when he was fatally shot near a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The attackers fled the scene in an SUV after stealing a Louis Vuitton bag containing $50,000 from him; four suspects were arrested. No trial date has been set for the accused and the motive for the murder remains under investigation.[17] XXXTentacion has RIAA-certified sales of 61 million units in the US and BPI-certified sales of over 7 million units in the UK, bringing his total to 68 million certified records sold in the two countries. Since his death, he has won an American Music Award and a BET Hip Hop Award and received 11 Billboard Music Award nominations.[18] Two posthumous albums were released, Skins (2018) and Bad Vibes Forever (2019); the former became his second number-one album on the Billboard 200 while the latter entered the top 5.

I wasn't in a good enough place to actually accept and go through the therapy I needed as a kid. I've since worked through my trauma and the the issues that arose from it to the best of my ability, and I'm doing fine. That said, I love seeing these reactions from your point of view. This type of music speaks to me on a personal and intimate level, and everybody takes something different from these songs. It's nice to see it analyzed from a therapists point of view.

X always felt Suicidal so when she died X got to see the other side of the effect.. he was mad at himself because he wasn’t there when he thought he should have. And the type of heart X had was if you were a good person he held you close. I’m pretty sure him and ms.Flores had deep conversations and that was painful for him to see no matter what advice you give and what effort you give the person may still give up
