The issue is Black hood culture. In the hood a young Black man is conditioned to be loyal to the "hood" rather than expand his horizons. When a young Black man refuses to participate in the foolishness and elevate himself, he is criticized by his peers. We need to celebrate the square rather than the "stepper." And congrats to Tony for elevating his mind and realizing how detrimental lyrics are.

You’re not wrong about most of this but it’s not black hood culture. It’s western culture. The record labels ran by white folks are promoting this as well & discouraging true creativity unless the artist is white. There are plenty “thugs” in corporate offices as well.

As a teen, I had friends come and tell me about a crime they committed. They said they got high and listened to a song I made on repeat, then they did what they did. That's when I realized the seriousness of what I put on records. What was creative expression for me was evil influence on them. I would have personally told them not to do it, but my music influenced them to. From that day on, music became just a hobby and no longer a career goal. I didn't want that level of influence.

Lil Wayne didn't just turn kids into bloods he turned them into fiends too. It was his promotion of lean that made it a staple in Hip Hop and had everyone holding a double cup. Codeine almost always leads to stronger opiates because you build a tolerance after a while so that's why almost all rappers are junkies nowadays. Music is spiritual and it can possess you. People underestimate how powerful it is.

The music it’s not helpful, but the larger problem is we don’t spend nearly enough time scrutinizing and addressing the more significant factors that lead to the youth being misdirected, as we do scrutinizing the music. Many more substantial factors at play than simply the music.

Yeah the music is a scapegoat. It surely doesn't help but impoverished communities are disinvested of capital and ownership. I also think imo we focus to much on media representation. Black consumers already consume a ton of media as is. Our time should be allocated towards other economic fields of interest. My old head once said more black folk need to involve themselves in boring and duller industries and professions across the board. More money and opportunity are there then entertainment.

I’ll say this: Many occupations are glamorized in the media, legal or illegal. What is the formula that makes people go into that lane? The cars, houses, women, etc. Growing up I knew the difference between fast money, 9 to 5 money, off the table money, and such. So in a sense one can say it’s just lyrics, but if an individual doesn’t know the whole picture things can get tricky

Well that's on parents or legal guardians. At the end of the day the buck stops with an adult. The industry ain't change the characters. It makes 💰. The government ain't change your reality, unless you have majority people who own and vote in that community to make a better change. Sadly a lot of black youth don't have guidance from their nuclear structure and hence the issues stay the same. Tbh the hood or ghetto was never designed to raise your quality of living. You got to see and live different to do better for most imo. Everyone can't vision beyond their reality.

The DOC made a song back in the day called "The Formula". Well that song was a BANGIN HIT. But the analogy..... This system used the lyrics of rap as a "formula" for our destruction. We cant stop um from listening to hip hop. So lets poison the well with lyrics and a vibe that glamorizes the destruction of their people.

Rappers are government agents designed and pushed to influence young black boys & girls to destroy themselves. Please have a serious talk with your daughter about the music she consumed. It's mental & spiritual POISON

I think it’s really funny that grown men and women don’t understand what adult entertainment is your children shouldn’t be listening to certain music or watching certain videos you are fully in control of what your children watch and listen to in your home

It's not advertised as "adult entertainment" tho. It's marketed directly to the kids/teenagers.

The genetic and cultural heritage of the so called African American descends from the greatest scholars, philosophers, creators and yes, Kings and Queens that the word has ever seen. This is documented fact, not rhetoric.

That’s not the problem math. Ppl don’t have to come back to the hood for a person to believe in themselves. That’s just another way to blame your lack of on someone else. It’s all on you even when you do have structure the choices are your own. You just have better chances/odds when you have structure. You’ve said this theory several times. Yes seeing someone from your hood that looks like you is inspiring but that doesn’t guarantee your will do anything with that inspiration. It’s the individual that makes the choice and follow through so stop that narrative bro you’re better than that.

People do what they are meant to do. They have a known outspoken about every thing in "her" life including glorifying gang life "rapper" why do people expect "her" to be a role model??? Any offensive "gangster rap" "rappers objectify women to be role models??? Your child has to get the information from you and researching. Teaching them to be their own person and trust no one be observant and diligent but not putting trust into everyone and expecting to be lead by man. IJS in MEO. #VIBRATEHIGHER
