Shraddha Pai what that gairakshak said is right. We should only drink desi cow milk and not even bafelo milk since bafelo milk is high in fat content. Even jersey and other hybrid cow milk (HF) available in cities which comes in plastic bags is also not that healthy as it is Type A1 milk and may cause diabetes and heart related diseases among people who consume it for longer time. Desi cow milk which is type A2 milk is free from these problems but very hard to be available especially in cities.

Hazrat Ali Ibn Abi Talib has been quoted saying that "Don't make your stomach the graveyard for animals". Islam has only outlined the types of animals that can be consumed and doesn't really imply that you can't be a Muslim without eating one. Maybe, geographically seeing the region in which Islam originated was not adequately fertile to grow food on earth and hence eating animals was a way of survival and keeping a balance. Even in those times, mostly rich could afford eating meat. People should have freedom to eat what they want to eat, as human beings we should not be hung up on eating for pleasure which is creating the complete imbalance in the nature. Islam also highlights the fact that if by refraining from an act can bring about peace amongst the people living in a community one should definitely do that as long as it doesn't come in the way of you practicing Shari'ah. By not eating beef one won't be going against the religion anyway. Similarly, the cow rakshaks should also take a stand against the Dairy industry that abuses these cows so much and making it a priority for humans to consume milk products more than the calf that needs it. Don't be so confused and uncomfortable..India is a diverse country..it is not so without any reason..there are places which are defined by its heritage, culture (clothing, food habits, language etc.). The only wise way of dealing with such issues is respecting the place and it's culture. You eat kheer on dussehra, you eat goat on bakra-eid, you do vrats on Navratri etc. etc. All these are instances where people do something away from the normal to celebrate the culture..the moment we start respecting our differences that very moments ALL CONFUSION & ALL UNCOMFORT will go away
