I have listened to several recordings of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi singing 'Changey Naina' in Miyan Ki Todi between the mid-1950s and late 1980s. This Amaravati performance easily stands out as the most majestic and intense version (even by his lofty standards). 'Taan Kaptan' which follows in Drut (52:51) is simply electrifying. One can only imagine the weighty atmosphere that must have enveloped the audience during the live concert.
@maheshdesai4932 жыл бұрын
What a performance. Stupendous sculpture of Todi. The Naad created by him keeps on ringing in one's not only ears but in the whole body. It permeates all pores of our body and it becomes like a running fork vibrating with the sound of the his voice. Simply sublime.

Amravatikars would have been really proud to host him. And I can feel the hard core followers of classical music giving 'daad' at every delicate 'harkat' and 'taan'. Very unfortunate for Amravati, which has lost its hunger and craving for classical music and dramas and hardly any classical program gets organized.

If I were asked about my achievements in my life, I would say that I am among those fortunate who listen Panditji on several occasions.
Those days are gone where a person was allowed to be remain dedicated to classical music. Worship of Saraswati was their main passion. Money was secondary. And the needs from the family were met through the small income. Today there are pressures to give up the art forms and become more proficient in mundane professions. This is a great disservice to ourculture. The rate race has harmed our culture to no end.

Those were the "Golden days" when top most classicist like Pandit Bimsen Joshi; Ustad Ammerkhan sahab; Kishori Amonkar's programme used to be arranged invariably in prominent cities; especially Pandit Bimsen Joshi had in his mind four to five ragas which he used present almost continuously . There after Panditji float one or two L.P.s ie cut his ragas in L.P. record. Afterwards rarely he used sing the same ragas in his 'Mahafil'.That was his speciality.I think Pandit Bimsen Joshi is the only one Topmost Vocalist who has cut maximum L.P.s those days. Here Ustad Zakir Hussain has given the best presentation in Tabla! ! Thanks for uploading such "Marvelous music piece"!!

@adityanautiyal77103 жыл бұрын
Classical music is not for everyone, the essence in this particular Raag is of mystery, sadness, and other gloomy feels, like a fawn after it takes birth, scared, confused, it knows life so little. Only very few people are able to bring out the essence in a Raag, Pandit ji here is a master at that, amongst the technicalities and grammar of a Raag he also is able to put forward the "essence" which is very important, because without emotions it's not art. Having classical knowledge helps, but it clicks with people at the very first go as well, and some take years, highly subjective,but a deep and very poetic topic all together to dive into, take your time, watch demo videos where they explain why and how's , what brings out what, listen to different raags , see what makes you feel happy, what makes you feel anxious, what puts you to peace, what makes you feel energetic, there's an ocean out there

@@ajayr7346 Classical music, in simple words, is playing with the swaras of a particular Raga in a given cycle of a Taal, eg. here Ektaal (12 beats) and Teentaal (16 beats) keeping in mind the traditional norms and conditions of the Raga. And coming on/showing the Sam (1st beat of the Taal) everytime elegantly. Start listening to Hindustani classical music and after a while you'll understand the importance and beauty of the Sam! Also, if you listen to any traditional classical rendition, you will find a gradual progression in the speed/tempo of Raga presentation which creates excitement in the listeners and curiosity of what is coming next! 😇 Classical music is a never-ending journey, full of self reflection, introspection, divinity, void as well as fulfillment and surprises... once you enter this journey, there's no going back! 😊 Happy listening ✌🏻
