Born many years after his death, I have invested much time to get to know him and the great TPOK and the BANA OK just to keep the history for the next generation and the music as well. It hurts that I never got a chance to see him alive but the love is there. Long live their music through us.
@sagala.mulindwa2 жыл бұрын
If all of you who never or barely knew him in life were so deeply touched by his Demise, what about us who knew him for a greater part of our teenage years and throughout our adulthood until his Death? I was 41 when he died but had known him and even to learn his style of Guitar Tactics since 1964 when I was a small Boy in Senior Secondary One at St. Mary's College Kisubi (SMACK) in Uganda!!! He became my Idol, Mentor and Master ever since and he even earned me the Title "Mzee Franco" among my fellow Musicians because of how I would play the Solo Guitar and also sing like him! This Video clearly demonstrates the great VOID left behind in the TP OK JAZZ BAND by his Demise. One can easily see and feel his Absence even at some point the Rhythm Guitar sounds out of tune, something he would never let to happed until his last Performance which signalled his eminent "End of the Road!!!" This Tribute is very much worthwhile for this "Great Maestro." Thank you for paying this Tribute to him. May God continue to grant him a peaceful Eternal Rest. Viva Franco Luambo Makiadi; Viva le TP OK Jazz!

A great tribute to Luambo Makiadi. Unfortunately, most of the great musicians including Lé Poète Lutumba, the lead vocalist Djo Mpoy, Josky Kiambukuta, Madilu System, Lola Checain, Aime Kiwakana and others are also late. TP OK Jazz was a great African Jazz Band. Nothing like it.

Agreed on the basis of horror his presence presented but reproduction of music is perfect like as it used to be because Franco used to perform on very limited occasions but the Band performed non stop.In fact Franco was magnanimous in naming his group Franco ET Le T P O K meaning the other was ONE and the same.To me this Band could have out lived Franco for much longer but personality clashes. Remember they were known as "CHAMPIONS du ZAIRE " soon after Franco's death.In short they were schooled to PERFECTION by the Grand Master that even after the brak up of Band,offsprings such as-,Lutumba and Bana O K,Madilu Bialu with Band,Dizzy Mandiyeku Tshimanga with his Tshimangologue,Shakespeare and his one man band have not disappointed Rhumba fanatics like.Pipo let us learn to embrace INNOVATION some times

The charisma and the BOOMING VOICE of FRANCO can never be replicated and that made the difference with other Bands and the songs sounded different. By the way I have not witnessed other Videos by the group for me to make a fair assessment but this one was the greatest before their separation. 'ALIMATOU the song itself composed after they toured ZAMBIA I e then Northern Rhodesia before TP O K was born to me is coincidental.

Baudouin Nkumu Mokonzi Salomon wa Kinois and Zaramoku as Philias ADJILE previously stated... One has to understand that even though Franco had been dead a year or so Lukunku was probably still struck with grief not only at his passing but also that other band members he was used to seeing were no longer part of the line up. This group was like family to him. If you look at early T.P OK Jazz videos from this channel (The song Liberté from 1975, Télé Zaïre 1975, Télé-Zaïre 1979, Télé Zaïre 1980, Télé Zaïre 1982 and Télé Zaire 1986) you will notice that Lukunku did most of the live show interviews starting from the early 70's through to the 80's. Lutumba's Hommage à Luambo is a very poignant track
@AboubacarSiddikh10 жыл бұрын
"The group was like family to him." I am sure HE was NOT like family to THEM!! He was one of the most notorious of Mobutu's brown-nosers. Hated by many for what he represented. Often thought he was more important than the artist, for instance interrupting Chérie Bondowé in 1975 before the song could be finished. His life was cut tragically short less than two years later than the above clip. By a lynchmob hahahahaha!!!
