Hi Guys, I am Iranian and used to play Santoor. The way these maesteros are playing this lovely instrument looks a bit basic to me. However, I'm delighted to see them play it like that. The way they pluck on the strings, their style is fantastic. It's just another way to play santoor and Hey ho, that's all about music and instrument. So whoever you are iranian or indian, don't be arrogant and just enjoy it.

I have a little problem to understand what happened to Sangat of tabla, Nowadays if you watch or listen to vocal or instruments playing ragas. The tabla player is not anymore sandati but it sounds like there is a ugalbandi between him and the main artist.

My friend, haven't u ever heard someone say that music has the power to break all barriers. Why would you want to belittle that by insulting someones place of origin. I am very proud that my country India has such amazing maestros and instruments, but that doesnt mean that Iran doesnt have its own to contribute to the world.

Very beautiful. I've been a fan of Shivkumar's since the early 70s, when I found his first Lp recording. It was the first time I'd heard an Indian playing this instrument and was very amazed - and it is unusual, since in India, instruments that bend notes (i.e., slide from one pitch to another) are preferred. Also, tuning to the mircopitches involved in the different ragas must be a bitch! Thanks for uploading this.

Even Middle East has a very rich and diverse culture, so unique and beautiful. Hollywood is...welll just American Fantasy

@patwardhansandeep tanpura is nothing like sitar !!!!!! tampura is for keeping the instruments in tune, you will have a job to hear a single note if you are in the audience, sitar is the most common lead insrument for indian classical !!

I enjoy both Iranian and Indian santoor music, but I like the raga-based style more so than the iranian style...but perhaps I'm biased. Do you honestly think shivkumar sharma butchered this instrument? I'd be very surprised if you did! Still, its a beautiful instrument. Thanks, Iran!
