Hi. Very informative tutorial. Thank you. I tried to find how to do a Tiny Planet shot here, but was not successful. Could you please tell me in which part is this?

Hi, I don't think it's mentioned in the tutorial. First you need to create a regular spherical panorama. This should be a full 360 degree panorama, and it should include the nadir. Video tutorial #7 explains how to shoot the nadir in a spherical panorama. Once you have this, go to the Panorama Editor. Open the panel at the right hand side. Go to Projection. Then select Preset -> Little Planet.

Will I be stitching them first and then editing the outputted file or edit the raw files - export them to JPEG and THEN stitch together? Thanks
@ptgui4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, that's up to you. You can load most types of raw images directly in PTGui and stitch them. But PTGui's raw conversion is just basic; for better image quality or if you want to tweak the raw conversion it's recommended to convert your raw images to 16 bit TIFF files first in a dedicated raw converter and then stitch those TIFF files in PTGui. I am thinking of buying PT Gui as I am on a Mac and my preferred editor of Image composite editor (ICE) is not available on Mac. I really liked the feature of being able to tell ICE to arrange the images based on timestamp and, the number of rows and columns to be stitched. Does PT GUI have this functionality? This is critically important for me as I use these software to stitch large images taken at high magnification (300-1000x) using Scanning Electron Microscopes, and these images are highly systematic in their acquisition pathway (usually left to right, top to bottom from a centred anchor point).

Hi Anthony, the Pro version of PTGui offers a similar tool called Align to Grid. For more information see: ptgui.com/examples/creating_gigapixel_panoramas_with_a_robotic_panohead.html PTGui was designed for stitching panoramas where the camera is placed at a fixed viewpoint and rotated to take images in multiple directions. Mosaics (such as your microscopic images) are different and require special handling. For more information see 6.5: ptgui.com/support.html#6_5 You might be able to get it to work if you simulate a long lens by entering a long focal length in PTGui (say, 1000mm). Determine the overlap percentage of your images accurately, and enter this in Align To Grid. Give it a try in the free trial version, it's fully functional. If you need further help, please post to the PTGui support forum, happy to help you there: ptgui.com/forum

Why not add 360 metadata so one can upload to google street view?
@ptgui3 жыл бұрын
Hi, PTGui already does this. It adds this metadata automatically for an equirectangular panorama.

hello, in this tutorial, before creating the panorama you crop the image so as to cut the areas of the bottom and the top. I have a trial version of PTGui Pro for Mac and apparently this option is not possible, at least I can not.
@ptgui5 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian, it should work, also in the trial version. In the Panorama Editor, when you move the mouse pointer near the edges of the panorama, the mouse pointer changes from an arrow into a 'resize' pointer. Then click and drag.
