SKAARHOJs IP based joystick controllers, including PTZ Fly, are demonstrated on NewTeks NDI HX-PTZ1 robotic camera in a surprising dual-panel configuration. Click “Show More” below for additional information.
With VISCA over IP implemented on NewTeks NDI HX-PTZ1 camera you can connect multiple controllers to the same camera which is at worst just cool but probably far more useful than you may think. We will demonstrate that in a different video on separating the camera operation and shading concerns two different operators. In this video the PTZ Fly is introduced as a mid-size joystick controller with a simpler interface but equal amount of theoretical capabilities as the PTZ Pro.
Order your SKAARHOJ PTZ Fly online directly from us with quick world wide shipping and free advice from the engineers! Also, don’t hesitate to contact us for questions. We love to serve our customer, old and new!

Hey, I used these cameras and your PTZ Pro controller on a show in Mexico. Was very impressed. The one thing that is holding me back from buying a whole set of these is the responsiveness of the joystick. For X and Y movement the slowest speed seemed quite fast and there was no ramp up/ramp down to make it seem smoother. I wanted to be able to do really slow camera moves where I cut to the PTZ camera and then slowly pan/tilt away but the slowest speed that the camera was capable of with the controller was too fast to be useable. Is this a limitation of the camera or the controller or was the system just not set up correctly? We are looking at buying a few of the NewTek cameras and a Pro controller but this is a deal breaker for us. I can't find any data on the minimum step for the PTZ on the camera.... Thank you!

Good question and thanks for raising it. While the PTZ Pro joystick is not a hi-res joystick in the default version it is still far sufficient for VISCA speed steps. In the VISCA protocol there are 25 speed steps for pan, tilt and zoom in either direction. The joystick itself is easily able to deliver that resolution. However, two things might help you: First, there is a PTZ speed limiter on the controller which sets the max speed we will ever send to the camera - this could help you to put an upper limit on how fast it will move. However: It won't give you new 25 speed steps within that limit and zero. Such a function would have to be in the camera itself and I'm not sure the Newtek has that. Also: Some people will also like if a PTZ camera has a different sensitivity to speed the more it's zoomed in - obviously pans/tilts are more critical in that case. Lot of explaining - please write us an email at info@skaarhoj.com and we can try to find time to provide you some testing and detailed feedback. - kasper

Your controller able to control NDI cam thru tricaster? Tricaster currently can take in video signal, Poe and controller thru ndi but controlling of the cam is software based, I will prefer a hardware controller.

Yes, it can. We have a video that shows it from IBC. It's shown with a Rack Fusion Live panel though, but its the same.

What I need to know ... I have a Cat 6a that I currently run into a PoE+ switch and then on to the Tricaster 460 will the Fly or the Pro plug into the switch thus allowing the system to send power, control / bring back video and audio? I notice you have a PoE option is that the answer? Also what is the price point of the "Fly"?

Yes, a single cable can do it all. Notice, for NDI usage it's very important to make sure multicast data is not flooded onto the controller as it will disturb the control communication easily. This just requires setting up the network switch with IGMP snooping. PTZ Fly is 1400$

Will either of these controllers allow PTZ Control of a NewTek NDI-HX Camera while using OBS Software? If so - how does it need to be connected and what settings need to be made? THANKS!

The controllers generally work in parallel with other controllers or software. Should work. We at least can control multiple SKAARHOJ controllers to it.

Saving and loading presets and how many cameras can it support

Yes, it does saving and loading presets. With labels even. Supports at least 7 cameras, but in theory 56. Have never tried that many. We don't have that many...

Hi Victor. we do not have a out the box solution for that, however it is possible to control parameters we a footpedal. In our of our previous webinars we demonstrate how we control The Cruise Control Feature with the use of a footpedal and a GPIO box. Its starts at around 19:30: zoom.us/rec/play/7tilSeS7RJCETV0XPs5m23K9AoEjlRn1AJ3BHWrd_jmaSoyYYGIdhrrfyd223WhQe7FWVUzcpMpIP7Mn.CrEqGBML05expH7i?continueMode=true If you take this approach then you would be able to do want you want, if you can spend the time to set it up.
