I saw a few people commenting here whether building a 4k rig is viable. So I would like to highlight few points based on my experience. Let me take you back in time 6 years when 1440p was not viable and now it has become the main stream. If you are willing to spend on a 80 class card and above and ok to game at medium to high settings there won't be any issue. Most of the competitive games are often played at medolium to low settings. So a 80 class new gpu will easily get you 150 + fps. For casual games I consider 90fps a good number. Even though there are dips it won't go below 60. At high settings with dlss quality enabled 90 fps is easy. For upcoming games. For older titles you can easily get 100+ fps. Ultra settings is useless unless you have extra money to throw on a gpu. Because newer titles look good even at medium settings. Just set the textures to max and keep rest all settings medium it would still look good at 4k. I recently upgraded to a 4k rig from 1080p and don't regret it. I have tried 1440p as well on my friends pc, yes it's good but nowhere near to 4k. The clarity you get at 4k is unmatched. Plus if you can get a smaller size 4k monitor like 27inch it would be great because of higher ppi. Remember it's the ppi that matters more. Tighter the pixels better the image quality. And from my experience who just upgraded to a 4k monitor from 1080p, 4k medium seeting with high textures looks much better than 1080p ultra setting. And ray tracing 😂😂 just forget it useless tech that cuts your fps by half. It's just a gimmick to overprice the cards. You need to have something new in order to sell. Path tracing, yes that's good but don't expect it to run well even on rtx 5080. By running well I mean 4k max + path tracing + dlss quality and 60 + fps consistent. You will need to wait for rtx 6080 for it.

Interesting. Can't expect much; There are probably games out there with higher potential for 4k. But interesting monitor pick, and sheeesh 4090 :o

This is an old game but in 4k it looks incredible! The monitor was the cheapest one I found with 144hz xD

Pubg has Desync issues in our region..otherwise would have loved it

Very poor framerate. Was aiming to make my next rig 4K but not sure it's actually viable any longer. Does FPS improve significantly with most settings at Very Low? When playing competetive PUBG Ultra settings have no value. Also I'm only interrested in FPP, not sure it this improves FPS further or not. Would be very interresting to me if you could capture video from a competetive esports game replay with 4K, Very Low everything except AA=Ultra and Textures=Medium, Sharpen=ON. I could send you a replay to use.

I think you need to wait for the next gen of gpus to be able to play games at 4k with high fps. I think the fpp doesn’t change much. I can make a video playing on that settings but if you want you can send me ;)

I think you can share your replay, you need to find the folder %localappdata% on windows, then go to "TslGame" folder, then "Saved" and then "Demos" and you will find it there. Then you can send me @@AveiMil
